Look on Utube for video showing balckpowder wood splitting and try that on your stump. Might save you a good deal of labor.

No, not really. Mostly the loader was used to to pull out roots once they were severed, oh and as an expensive wheelbarrow."

You mean you dug that monster out by HAND?

Holy Cow.

You Da Man.

Those stumps are huge! You guys just don't give up. I have tried burning stumps, but that has not worked very well for me. The fire always goes out. I guess that's why we have tractors. We missed out on the good old days of dynamite...

To burn out a stump that big would take awhile. First you must drill it about 4 good holes and then fill with diesel. A week or so later fill it again with diesel and this goes on until it is ready depending on type tree. Then fill it again with diesel and light it it will go out under ground but will be smoldering for a week or so. When it's out you have no more stump.

Nice job it reminds me of a stump I pulled last year more then twice that size{no picture :(} Made my 40,000+lb excavator stand up on one track. Would not lift it either ended up dragging it out of the way.

Hey IC,
Give your chain saw a break and try this method. Once it's up on some stout skids it pulls surprisingly easily.

When I was kid 50 years ago, blasting stumps was common on farms. You could then burn the pieces for firewood. There was always a guy around who did blasting, but it seems that profession has died off or is not as widespread as it once was.
