I am in british columbia, the opposite side of the north america from you. I will sadly have to decline, it will cost more to ship it here then to buy it local. Oh well, I guess I will just stick with my lincoln until I get enough cash for the ESAB mig I am looking at.

Hot enough to melt the bronze is hot enough. I love brazing stuff. It can fix a lot of things.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to disagree.
The base metal has to be hot enough to accept the bronze. Otherwise, the bronze will just set on top in globs without melting into it and making a strong bond.

I was talking about the metal. What else but the rod is there? Anyway, when the bronze flows, it's hot enough. Any more heat than that isn't needed. The guy who taught me was eight years older than the twentieth century (if you asked him his age). Now I'm gettin' kind of geezer too.
