Tires Are My Tires Flled?

When I bought my new B2920 8 month ago, the dealer told me he filled the tires. This was important to me so I asked him again when the tractor was delivered about the filled tires, he told me they were filled.

So the other day after my rear tires started slipping while backing up a small gravel incline I was curious if my tires were actually filled.

I rotated one of the rear tires so the valve stem was on the bottom and with a small nail I pushed the stem in expecting fluid to squirt out, but I got nothing but air. I tried the same thing on the other rear tire, again nothing but air.

Question: Shouldn't fluid squirt out when pushing in the valve stem if the tires were filled? Did my dealer forget to have the tires filled before delivery?

If the stems are at 6 o'clock and nothing comes out but air.. Well that is all that is in there. You can also see the fill level if you leave your tractor out on a cool night, and in the morning if it is humid you will see wetness on the portion of the tire that is filled and the dry portion will be warmer and not condense water on the outside. Sorry but you dealer "forgot" or something.

No offense to you Art, but it would be hard for me to buy the "honest mistake" defense if there was a specific agreement for filled tires and it was my safety that had been compromised.

The dealer should have procedures and checklists in place that preclude this from happening, period.

Lately I've been more and more in the 'probably did it on purpose' camp, but have to agree with Art. I have my supervisor (Mrs. Pa) to thank for that, she keeps me in check when I'm ready to assume the worst. Besides that, I would think it an honest mistake anyway since it's so easy to check fluid.

A nice phone call to the dealer should help clear it up...
