Actually, you can tee off the PB port and run a hose from the front of the tractor, to the back with caps on the fittings you are not using. The fitting on the back can be a QD, for plugging in any implement off the back, or feeding the 3pt. A return hose must be used for each valve and go to tank.

It is recommended that pass through fluid go through a PB outlet to the next valve.

In general, it is not recommended to put a QD on the supply hose for obvious reasons.

Although convenient, it also can cause big problems. You know, deadhead. If you do this, add a relief valve across the pump output. The relief out would go to tank.

He's not "teeing" into the PB!!! re-read he's thread!!!

"....can't "T" my output hoses coming out of the new valves...."

I'm wanting to do this addition on my L4400. Let's say I use a 2 spool valve. Is there a hydraulic reason that I can't "T" my output hoses coming out of the new valves and add a set of connectors at the front of the tractor and the rear of the tractor. I know I wouldn't be able to utilize the same circuit at both ends of the tractor at the same time. But beyond that, wouldn't this work?? It would give me two circuits at each end of the tractor while using only a 2 spool valve. Ideas??

Theoretically, you could have many lines coming off a valve, but in an open center hyd system, , the fluid must be flowing all the time the pump is running.

You could use shut off valves and QD's to achieve your goal, but if you are not careful, you may dead head the pump.

You would aslo have to have control valves for the implement.

Draw out your hyd circuit with all valves and QD's, and hoses, and see if the flow is correct.

There must be flow from pump to reservoir

J_J,
I think the user has one valve that he wants to plumb to quick disconnects at both ends of his tractor with T's. That way he could use that one valve to control the front OR the back, but NOT BOTH at the same time. Yes that can be done. However, if you have something hooked up to both the front and rear at the same time both things will be activated at the same time when the valve is operated. It would be better, in my opinion, to either put a separate valve for the front and rear OR ad a selector valve so only the front or rear can be operated at any given time.

I was a little confused by the user's reference to putting Ts in the output hose, as I thought he meant the return line until I read it again.

Don't have to make hydraulics more confusing.... it's tough enough as is

Nope. We can just explain it nicely to each other. ;)

Okay, sounds like that's doable. Might lack a little in practicality, but doable.

Yeah, I think JJ missed my idea. But I read his replies carefully. I could draw out my schematic and still not understand it as well as he does in his head. I understand the concerns he expressed.

I don't have a large use for remotes. But I know that use would grow if I had them. I figured to locate my control valves just like the OP in this thread. So if I "T"d my output hoses to the front and rear, and then later decided I had a need to use them both at once, I could come back to the valve location and add another set of valves and use the plumbing that I had originally ran to both ends.

Thanks to everyone for the explanations and ideas. For some reason hydraulics freaks me out. I printed off the schematics the OP posted and studied them closely, I THINK I got it....

Welcome to the club... I doubt I could do it again without re-reading all the threads again... a few more times...

this looks very tempting for working in the woods to move logs and brush.. it may even remove all need i have for a log loader/trailer.

teg,

On the new barn thread, you provided me with some tutorial info. on posting pictures. While reviewing your instructions I noticed your mention of adding extra spools to your L2800 for the grapple.

That presentation and documentation has given me some fantastic design ideas to mount and control a hydraulic thumb on my JD 300B backhoe. I was very taken by the way you associated the grapple controls with the bucket control valving. After review, much of the same concept could be utilized to control the thumb on my front bucket.

You have provided me assistance and guidance twice in one day, can't beat that. Thank you for a very nicely documented project that will surely be of help to many of us TBN'ers.

Thanks, :) ...without others on TBN, kennyd for one, I would not have been able to do what I did... so it's a way to pay TBN back
