I'm glad you explained your handle. I was wondering if it was because there were several unexplained babies in your neighborhood.

I'm happy to say that 636 isn't a head count. I have six very explainable kids, and my wife knows about all of them.:D

That's almost the end of the road down there. The guy that cuts my hair is from down there somewheres past P. Sulphur.

Not far from it, my place is at mile marker 26! What is your barber's name? I may know of him.

Keith
We are having one of those tropical storms right now. That is why some people leave from here. Although you had Irene pass your way!

Mark Mobley. He's been in Mississippi for years. Both his kids are grown now.

I'm on a drillship waiting on a permit and we've fled Fourchon yesterday. Scheduled to come back this afternoon or tomorrow. All of our trucks are sitting in Fourchon and we've gotten mixed reports on the surge. Everyone is sweating it except a few who want out from under their notes. Always somebody happy. Mine is paid for and I'm not enjoying the suspense. LA 1 from Golden Meadows down is off limits right now.

Mine is just what I've done for a living for the last 25 years. Photographer.

I consider myself very lucky to do what I've always enjoyed.

Gordo is nickname my co- workers call me, I am a conductor on Metra electric commuter trains in Chicago, IL. I am really miserable living in the Chicago area, too many people for my liking. I have bought 40 acers in south central Iowa in 2009 and hope to retire there in a little over 4 years from now.
I have always wanted to be a farmer, and finaly have saved enough money to buy my land. Most of my co-workers think I am crazy, what is there to do in the country. If only they would join this site they would know.

Reading all of these threads about people living out in the country, on farms, and living in remote areas like where Rick lives in Alaska help me make it through each day. Keep it up.

Rick if that dinner offer is still on, what type of beer do you like?

Thanks to all of you,
Gordo

Hey Gordo, sorry that crab is all gone, but just puttin the finishing touches on some cod pesto and there is plenty, only like to cook a couple of times a week so I make plenty. As far as beer goes, I like all kinds of real beer, the fuller the flavor the better. Had my first Guiness in the Carribean some 35 years ago (warm of course) and have been hooked on real beer ever since!

One or two extra plates on the table?

Rick

That sounds good, never had cod pesto. I think I will bring "Hacker Schor weiss" its a German beer that you put a slice of lemon in.

better make that 2 plates, I know my wife would love to go too.

Thanks for the invite.

AMEN Brother Rick! Guinness is what all beers aspire to be!
Best beer in the universe :licking:

When it get too cold, or you get tired of seafood, or too many folks show up at your place for dinner. Come to Virginia and have dinner at my ranch, I'll smoke you some tasty pork ribs and we'll wash them down with some of that "Black Beer" (quote from John Wayne in "the quiet man").

Since moving to a property with over 42 acres of WOOD, I have been studying and working to perfect the art of cooking with wood. I will say even the mistakes tend to taste good!

Be well!
David
