That's me at the head of snug cove, decent picture on google earth, can even see the skiffs. Now that you all know where I live, I will put a couple more crab in the pot for dinner but someone bring some beer as the pig just went dry last night and I won't be running a load into town til the weekend:laughing:
Rick

BTW I'm 3,800 miles from you, so I won't be there by dinner.

Ok TFC that is pretty cool, I would definitely want to visit there. I promise to bring beer! My name is not really original, I try to be honest and hope the seasoned folks on the forum understand when I ask questions that they probably shake thier head at and say, "I can't believe she uses a tractor" but we all start somewhere :)

Got hughesnet last year and it makes life a lot easier, it was a 20 mile boat ride just to use the phone before that!

Rick

This is my first time with HughesNet, and I hate them, but I MUST have internet so I can work, and now that I live out here in the boonies (but not as deep as you - I am in awe of you there), regardless, I can't go back to living in the city. Not even for lighting fast download time... Hughes net is the only game in town for now for us rural types.

Do you generate your own electricity or does that run out that far?

I wonder if my wife would let me move us that far out... Hmmm...

Be well sir!

:laughing:eek:nly thing that runs out here are the bear n deer. I am blessed with a spring up on the hill behind the house that not only gives us the sweetest water it turns a water wheel which takes care of all our electricity except when I need to weld. As to the sir:laughing::laughing:, most everything I do out here involves salt water, blood, dirt, and grease and sometimes all four! If you saw me walking down your street like I look here most of the time you would either call the cops or give me a buck for a cup of soup;)
But thanks and you too!

Rick,

You have just become my newest role model... Just hearing you now has reduced my stress.

WOW...

I grew up in Oregon where hydro powers entire cities and I've always told my wife I want a property with a stream and a pond, so I can dam it up and generate my own power. The beavers did most of my work, and the branch runs all year, but they reduce the output to a series of trickles for at least 1 month to 6 weeks of the year. But I wonder...

Rick, you have inspired me! Bless you and your sir!

Rick,
So is that your 30 foot crab fishing landing skiff what appears to be just off shore? The one you haul your tractor on? Also, does the lake behind you have a name?
You sure are way out in the boonies.
hugs, Brandi

Hi Brandi,
Yes that is the 30'er and the 20'er inside it. I just got done halibut fishing for the last several days with the big skiff so it won't be a crab boat til tomorrow, having a sit on the butt day today and loving it! The lakes name is pond and I am cleaning the silt out of it to increase the gardens. Except for the silt and a few greenwinged teal don't have much use for it, water isn't as appreciated here as it is in Texas!

I would sure like to hear more about life on the water's edge in Alaska - Can you start a new thread so we don't dominate this one?

Like, how did you end up there?? How much land do you have? Does anyone ever bother you, show up unexpected, etc.? Do you have EPA regulations to follow; Anyone to enforce them?

See ... A new thread is needed! How about in the Rural Living section?
