85.3 hrs...and my first tach cable failure!

Just placed my first order with Jacks Small Engine. Heard good things about them on here, decided to order my cable and switch from them. I will be rerouting the cable so there are not as many sharp bends. Will update you all when I receive and install.

Wacky, come to think of it, I think he owes me the $36 I paid MF. I'm certain he was thinking of me or my tractor at some time before it broke. Cleans thoughts, certainly, unless he was lusting after our newer models. ;-)

85 hours is only about 300x's more than I got out of my tach cable on my Kubota L3400. It stopped cold @ 0.3 hrs

But under warrent ofcourse. They promptly sent me a new one at my request. The time to install myself was worth being without the tractor for a day while they came, picked it up, fixed it, and brought it back:thumbsup:

I figured I am out $31.00 for the cable, but at least it is an easy fix to do myself. I would rather do it myself and be sure it is done right, than have it done by a half-wit mechanic at the dealer that could care less about my tractor, and waiting for their next break to come around. Just sayin'

Wacky, just remember it takes a little effort/pressure to get the cable down into the gears. Otherwise, simple.

Never ordered a part for a tractor from Jacks Small Engine. Have ordered lawn mower, back pack blower and string trimmer parts. Have never been disappointed and have always received outstanding service. They also do not charge more for "Shipping & Handling" than the part cost.

The tach's in the airplanes I fly all have hour meters. But, they generally also do have added electric Hobbs meters.

That is because you are flying rental planes. The Hobbs is a good thing if you want to build time or charge for it and the tach time is good for airframe and engine time. The Hobbs meter will show more time then the tach when you do a lot taxiing and stop and goes. They like to charge when ever the master switch is turned on. My tach cable on my 2310 is still working with 700 hrs.
