Last fall I purchased 40 acres of land 1/2 mile from our cabin...somewhat remote in a logging and hunting area.
The 40 acres had very nice trails from earlier logging and has been used by some over the years for hunting and trail riding. In fact...I hunted on the property when I was about 18 years old...now 63

Also has major blueberries patches.
My "plan" is to first make it clear that some one "owns" the property as the area has lots of state and national forest and people are used to using land if they think now "owned" by private party. First, I have mowed the trails and cleaned all deadfall. My mowing makes it pretty clear that the land is "owned".
I have not had damage issues...just either hunters, blueberry pickers or trail riders using the property as they have for probably 50 year+.
Next summer I am going to put some decorative fencing in the entry and may put up a mailbox. Also, when we see berry pickers we let them know the land is now private. We are not near any town area and so most who use the land do not damage...at least so far. I want to slowly establish the private nature of the land.
BTW..."blocking" the entrance roads (3) will likely result in mowed down small trees creating a new atv path into the trails.
We will play it by year and see what happens next year.
Did have one "issue" this spring...found two dead timber wolves at the end of our road...just about 10 feet into the woods. In that case we notified the DNR and they came and picked up the carcasses after they were done "rotting". Said they are unlikely to find the culprits but want the skulls for study. My concern in this case is that someone would call and the DNR might think I killed the wolves.
FWIW...TMR
