Ive carried the law tag numbers of cars that have been parking infront of the landfill and entering on foot and the most Ive gotten from them is a dont bother us look.

I got a shock a few years ago after I bought the place from dad I was int the shop and the German sheperd went down the hill barking. I went down the hill to find a tour bus parked on the county road with 25 people out with metal detectors and a tour guide. I asked WTH.

I found out they were a Civil War tour group following and old Stage Coach and wagon road. They were kinda down to only be picking up welding rod fragments near the shop. We had filled part of it in and part of it had been reworked by dad. They felt a bit gypt about the tour guide tresspassing but glad I let them continue. I also let the tour company know it wasnt to happen again.

This place has a nice drive way into it and the parking spot is visible from the road. I was in the dump truck and comming up the hill I saw a car and guy walking around on the hill. I backed up and put the truck in the driveway and locked it down . I went and asked the man what he was doing and if he could read. He was just a new realtor looking to buy rural properties. He was properly escorted out.

A lawyer would eat you alive in court for that. A fence, no problem. A fence, no a single strand at that height. And, a history of trespassers(as mentioned numerous times in this thread). Lawyer would tear you apart.

And, as much as I hate people trespassing and doing the wrongs mentioned in this thread, is it worth someones life?

What would you sue me for? Is it illegal to put a fence around your property where you live?

Run one strand of barb wire head high
That will get you attempted murder charges in the state of Pa.

In Pa. it is illegal to fence off, or run a cable on any trail that is currently used by 4 wheelers or motorcycles.

I went to the local bar........got into a conversation with a guy I was sure was riding on my property. He said "you can't fence it or run a cable across the trails".............I said "you're right, but I can put boards with nails under the leaves".

Never had another 4 wheeler on my property since.

Robert its not worth it. Sometimes you just need to confront the trespasser to get them to stop. As long as they arent living on the property they will never be able to get.it to stop though.

You know thats not hard to believe.since.we live in a country where you can cut my fence down and chase my cows on your four wheeler then sue me when they turn back and you get trampled

Just found the Pa law on fencing
Road fences of wire with or without barbs

1899, May 2, P.L. 163, § 1. Amended 1976, April 7, P.L. 71, No. 31, § 1, imd. effective.
§ 32. Wire fences, with or without barbs, declared legal

Build a proper and legal fence. I would put a heavy duty piece of chain on posts just behind the fence on the trails and maybe hang ribbon.

It seems there are always people trying to get rid of stumps, perhaps you can get a truck load or two and then find a septic clean out company that's looking for a place to empty their truck. Stumps with a nice coating of s&%# might work. :licking:
I don't think you would see to many people try to move the stumps.
