Any "GOOD" satellite TV company out there?

We have had Dishnetwork since the mid 90's and have had good service from them. As others have said we do loose service during hard rain and snow.

My Daughter got an AT&T U-verse package with TV,phone and internet and is very happy with it. So far it has worked well and saved her quite a bit of money coming from cable TV and internet and seperate phone. You might want to check and see if this available in your area.

Really doesnt sound like you have it BAD.........

Dish here for me runs $111 and that is only with HBO not the others

Phone alone is $173 for .05 long distance, 2 cells, internet, and local service..........

The internet through them is $39.95...................

Yes........thunderstorms knock us off the air for awhile but we just change over to NETFLIX..........

NETFLIX is the best entertainment deal going........Download movies INTO your TV and order blueray or DVD........$19

Really wish I could get rid of the ATT stuff for $173......its a rip off for the phone and cell phones............

God bless.......Dennis

We have Netflix and can access either (a) on the personal computer or (b) via the Wii. The Wii was super easy to set-up as the menu item was already there. I believe other game units (XBox or Playstation) work similarly. You can't just use a DVD or VCR.

NEW tv's come with the ability to download directly by either wifi in your home or a cable to your internet hub and "talk" to netflix and MANY other aps..................So.....you plug your TV one way or the other into the internet by cable or wifi delivery...........

YOU do have new fangled big screen HD?????????

NEW bluray players have the same ability............

Sony makes a device that we gave to our kids for christmas that does the same thing but is just a box that hooks into your tv...........

All of the external "boxes" have S video, RCA, and the new HDMI type inputs and outputs to connect to your existing TV............

NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE HD..............its just nice to have

Netflix has 2 methods of delivery.............one is the download over the internet and the other is mail delivery.......We use both..........we have the 2 blue ray disk plan which pretty much keeps us with a new movie every other night or most every night...........

The download option WE USE A LOT...........hbo and showtime series like the "TUDORS" or "24".........on and on........

or when the grandkids come over we download what they want and instantly watch it.....lol....they watch it............THOUSANDS of selections..........

BY THE WAY>>>>>>>>>>I also have trees.......LOTS of them......a bit of trimming and running a cable to where the spot is got me excellent HD.........TAKES A GOOOOOOD TECH that cares.......

God bless.......Dennis

Today I got my bill and it went from $132 and change to $177 and change per month. That is what a house payment is.

$177 HOUSE PAYMENT? HUH? Is this some new 200 year mortgage?

But seriously. We have had dish, it'll be 11 years next month. Started off at something like $30 and has increased to just under $80, with no fancy packages (probably around 200 channels). During heavy rain, we lose signal. When you lose signal, it takes minutes to re-establish. We also have netflix through a Wii, but the quality is not as good. And they just pumped up their prices so we dropped to a lower plan.

My wife's grandmother lives next door and uses an old vhf/uhf roof antenna to bring in probably 2-3 dozen high def local broadcast digital channels. For nothing per month. And she doesn't lose signal during the rains that cause our satellite to drop.

Nope

Just that I live in God's Country (a.k.a.: middle of no where) where there are very few homes that require large monthly payments.

Just put the dish at head height. I don't know why people insist on putting the dish on the roof, anywhere you can see the satellite is fine, and if you get snow you can clean it off the dish standing flat footed on the ground.
