Tractor News New Holland going out of business???

Rick, These are valid points. I recently lost my job in Feb because I was working for a dealership that only sold NH. Business was just not there. I have over 20 years in the business and was fortunate to go to work for another local dealer. This dealer is much bigger and carries more than NH. Most of the majors are out sourcing their CUTs with the exception of Kubota who has the formula right and continue to gain market share. I work with the reps of all the lines and its nice to get an inside look into how things are done with the "competition". In Europe, NH is like JD or CAT here in the states. They will never get to that level here if they keep selling out. Fiat has made some questionable moves since the buy out, most of which I cringe at with each news release. I love NH as it is in my blood for years now. I just hope they get some leadership that will better serve the dealer, and the buyer.

It's almost the same a a dog chasing its tail....The FIRST responsibility of management in a firm such as CNH is to their bottom line and their share holders. It's arguable THAT end is reached by "better serving the dealer and the buyer", as well as the fact it's arguable their recent decisions will pan out to help bottom line and share holders....

I for one see CNH as eventually becoming just CaseIH, or whatever new name they decide to hang above the door.

Just read an article about New Holland's construction division. They're dropping quite a bit from their US market product line in 2012. No longer will they offer bulldozers, motor graders, 80hp and larger wheel loaders, 6 ton and larger excavators, or telehandlers.

I read that too.

Do you think in a few years the 'NH' will be dropped from CNH? Too much duplicating, and Multi branding?

Was most likely an uphill battle for them. See lots of Cat/JD/Volvo (More of the first two...) around here than NH construction. The NH skid steers are popular though.

I really wonder how long the Challenger tractors, aside from the track machines/4wd will be around?? MF/Valtra/Fendt should be more than enough...

Kinda makes a NH Construction sales contract less than desirable, doesn't it? Next will be full integration of SSL's and TLB's with Case Construction so they will all be common platform machines like the ag side is.

We've already seen the same thing happening in the auto industry. GM/Ford/Chrysler reducing brands within their parent company. To much competition from....themselves...

And that was for the Better. Glad they did it.

The future will be interesting.

The closest New Holland dealer, and the ONLY parts source for owners of "Ford" tractors in this area HAD a business built around 1/3rd New Holland construction equipment, 1/3rd New Holland compact tractors, and 1/3rd John Deere compact/consumer products sales.

Deere is in the process of yanking the proverbial rug out from under them, as there is a big multi-store Deere dealer just a few miles away, and Deere is pulling franchise from the smaller dealers in the same are. The "superstore" dealer will carry the load.....

New Holland has made compact tractors a non-entity for the time being

Now New Holland has opened a trap door under their industrial dealers feet.

Short term effect is, a long time loyal "Ford" dealer is being left in the lurch.

Next closest "Ford" dealer is an hour and a half away from a market FULL of long time Ford owners.

We DO have a Case industrial dealer who covers a 2-state area. Eventually they'll fill in the gap. It's the short term effect that concerns me.

Better provided you weren't a Plymouth/Mercury/Saturn/Oldsmobile/et al dealer, an employee of one, or a customer in a relatively isolated area who was dependent upon one of those dealers.......In which case you were left standing outside in the cold.
