Just installed the spacers on the rear wheels of the 3720. I put the other two spacers (they come 4 in a set for skid steer) on my 4320 open station to widen it also. BTW, my wife helped me remove/install the wheels (filled with Rim Guard) on both tractors. It's not really that difficult if you jack one side up at a time to just where the wheel is still resting on the floor and the loosened studs are centered in the holes and you can wiggle the wheel back and forth to remove and roll it forward to rest while installing the spacers. Reverse procedure to reinstall the wheel.
The A/C and heating on my 3720 cab was anemic when new and I found that the rear roof seal was damaged probably when the dealer installed the radio but I'm not sure. JD warranty covered replacing the roof seal about a year after taking delivery --- made a huge difference in heating and A/C operation. If the sliver you found is not foam then I doubt it is seal material. You can turn on the heat or A/C on max blower setting and see if a piece of tissue is sucked in anywhere other than the intake air filter which is located on the rear middle of the roof.
The sliver I got was like a soft stretchy spongey kind of rubber (foam?) is that maybe just like an outer weather seal it looked like it went around the inside lip of the roof you can only see at the rear of the tractor if you look up between the cracks. I could see a corner of it sticking out a little and crunched down buy the roof. From pictures I have seen here I think it was but hope you are rite and maybe it is just an outer weather strip.
