Thievery with a twist

Two camera minimum, sacrificial cheap one and a good one. Place the cheap one where it is barely hidden, then conceal and aim the good one to catch them stealing the cheap one.

You can bet if someone left a license plate after backing into a bank, the Police would pursue that. Kinda lazy for the Police to not at least make a "effort" IMO.

Seems to be a lot of thievery of trail cameras.I'm guessing they don't want to be seen or they are too cheap to buy their own. Then there is the habitual thief? I believe my next one won't flash to alert them?

You must be wealthy or politically connected to expect any police help. That is the number one rule in all police manuals avoid all confrontation of criminals unless forced to by the administration.

My lawyer says you give me the money and I will give it to the judge. The bad part is I was the plantiff. In Ohio you only pay $20 dollars and the DMV gives you replacement plates. Hopefully the thief gets caught with no plates and with the camera. In small rural areas people usually know who is doing what. Again this requires ,"catching them in the act".

Sometimes you just have to out smart them, calling johnnie law is generally a waste of time. I like the recent idea my partner came up with at our tree farm, we have had all kinds of small tools and things pilfered in the day as well as at night, he got a junk backpack blower from someones trash pile and cleaned it up real good, drilled small holes in the housing and put a cup of some kind of horrid smelling lure in there, the theory being they would grab it, cause the stuff to spill internally and leak out slowly into their vehicle, making them smell like the scum that they are. The blower lasted one night before being snatched up, hope they put it in their trunk...

I LOVE IT! Pretty creative IMHO. I hope it was in the front or back seat when it spilled!

I hate thiefs. And trespassers.
Unfortunately, my wife recently informed me that my BIL's nice moultrie game camera was stolen a few days ago. BIL and FIL have a few food plots and hunt on my acreage in Ohio. It was set up in the woods almost in the middle of 62 acres....with only 1 primary access road.
Here's the twist.....they went to the property the next day and saw some newer fresh tire tracks, and found a license plate.....looks like it was snagged by some brush and torn off. What could the chances be???
We're thinking they realized they lost the plate, and went back to try and find it.
I've been purposely holding off on opening up the main trail to the future homesite for the reason of discouraging anyone from easily driving back into it. It's kind of a tight fit in a few places.
So....waiting for a meeting with the sheriff and will see what happens.....
Bad thing is, I'm still overseas for another month...so family has to deal with it.

Be interesting to see what becomes of it!

Sorry to hear about your trouble Frank. I worry sometimes about that sort of thing here at my place. Fortunately nothing has come up missing.
Finding that plate should get the Sheriffs office a quick collar.

My old house was broken into just north of town here a couple years ago. The Sheriff's dept. was real good about trying to help but they didn't have that type of evidence to help them.

Better yet...Just get one of them newer cameras that automatically upload the photos to your e-mail or phone whenever one is taken:thumbsup:

Wouldn't that be just a more expensive camera to get stolen?
