Sorry to hear about your trouble Frank. I worry sometimes about that sort of thing here at my place. Fortunately nothing has come up missing.
Finding that plate should get the Sheriffs office a quick collar.

My old house was broken into just north of town here a couple years ago. The Sheriff's dept. was real good about trying to help but they didn't have that type of evidence to help them.

Mark

Thanks Mark! Like you, I also worry about more serious thievery as I have several pieces of equipment sitting on the property. Insurance won't cover it as they require a fence around the whole property or a secured building on the property. Still saving for a pole barn, hopefully next year!

Well, nothing much to report. The sheriff initially told us the plate was from a neighboring town, and that's it. Never got back to my family about any further results.
I believe what several folks have chimed in will most likely happen - nothing. Someone could say "hey, yeah my plate was stolen" so easily to worm their way out of trouble. No condemning evidence.
Soo, just have to increase presence at the property, perhaps put up some more "deterrents" and yes, a backup game camera.
I also like the idea of the endangered beetle.... but they'd probably want a dead beetle carcass.....
