Without reading all the other posts, get a tank and make a call for heating oil.
And then it can become a whole home loan issue (trying to get a loan on a farm is hard these days).

How can they tell the difference between heating oil and off road When it's all the same stuff? They have to charge sales tax on heating oil..
Here in VA its 5% (+ any local tax), so depending on the price it may or may not cost more than off road fuel..

All fuel has a sales tax including on road.

Here in VA everything gets taxed one way or another.. I once asked a Taxation auditor what items they collected tax on - His reply was they tax anything the DMV (rental vehicles, IFTA, and fuels) and ABC (alcohol) doesnt tax.

Our area truck stop sells off road. I buy 55 gallons of offroad diesle in the spring and it lasts me until fall, and through the winter I just refill the 5 gallon jugs as needed. I end up about 10 gallons short on my summer needs but I only use 20 gallons through winter and not worth the risk on storage.
