Had a similar situation. Went to HD and bought a VA screw extractor and yes it broke right off... What next.... I got out the OA cutting torch and hit it a couple quick times to burn the broken extractor out of the hole. Then I cut the end off a needle nose pliers and hammerd it into the burned out bolt hole. I twisted on it with a pair of vice grips. Came right out
After the VA screw extractor, I wanted something hard, but not as brittle. That is why I used the tip off the needle nose pliers.

Broken bolt was a Gr 8. (not 'great' and I now am wondering if it was one of those mis-marked made in china bolts??)

The part is only 90% out. The tip is at the bottom of the hole and resisting my attempts at getting it out. The silly carbide burrs are too short to reach it and nothing else makes an impression. That's why I have some 6" long burrs on the way.

FYI you can thank Irwin for destroying VA (and vise grips)

On the ez out. your doing the right thing. Not much can drill taps or ez outs other than carbide.

Personally i like the square ez outs.. i think there's a bit more meat on them (less likely to break) . It takes a delicate hand as you know.

Too late now, but there are special welding rods that can burn out taps. There are also rods that allow you to build up weld on a broken stud so you can weld on a nut. the special flux keeps the filler from plugging the threads in the bore.

In a rubber mount however your options involving heat might be limited.

Had to google "carbide burrs"

I have some of these I never knew they were carbide or what their name was.

Most likely they are all made in china now as well.

Cheap burrs yes. Good burrs no.

Much like drill bits it comes down to money. Spend some and you can get quality Made in US or europe.
