Another thing you can pull the side to the center by angling the drag so the center is behind the side a little bit.
That way the spoils walk to the center of the road to keep the crown.
In other words shorten the chain on the drag on the edge of the road just think of a reverse snow plow pulling it from the edge.

Hawk,

There is an 8' York Rake on CL for $400 obo. Listed 9/27

I asked for a picture.

Maybe I will be able to do as directed!:D

David

David,
I paid $300 for the one in the video. It is 7'. I got it from a guy down behind Kings Dominion. I was looking to purchase a new one at the Farm and Feed store there off of exit 104. All they had on the lot was 5' rakes. He pulled on the lot, saw me looking, and said he had this one back at the house. I followed him home and $300 later I had another tool to add to my arsenal! If you do not get the one you see on Craiglist, just know that this one is always available!

David, I see exactly the challenges you face with your drive. It's more like my neighbor's driveway than mine. You will have to be creative with your methods and then continue to go back and touch up spots. I don't think anything with gravel is ever going to stay put 100% on those grades. I also see why you don't want to do a lot of dragging. If you have grass in the center of your driveway, at least that part stays put. There no way to get grass to grow in the wheel paths though.

Hawk,

It is a real York brand, paint is peeling and one tooth is missing. Can't get a picture because he is not computer guy, just an old farmer :).

He is firm on $400 price.

It is bit of a drive, I'm thinking about it HARD...

David, I know that you have a lot of projects and are short on money. But you have to drive on your road all the time, would it not be a smart thing to get an implement that will at least help with your road? As much as you want to use your loader, it will NEVER do the road as the road should be done and no where as fast as a 3pt implement.

Just my :2cents:

Brian,

I'm trying that logic with the wife myself.

This 8' York rake that just appeared seems like a great opportunity, and I am VERY inclined to go get it. That is why I started another thread in attachments to see if it was worth the $400...

Thanks,
David

David, if it is as good as what some of these guys are saying, it will be worth being in the dog house for awhile if you get. It will make YOUR life much-much easier. I know that I wasted quite a bit of money buying the wrong landscape rake for myself. I rebuilt it once only to find other deficiencies  and need to rebuild it again. :( but it will be very nice whenever I do get around to it.

Almost afraid to say this, but the wife just said to tell your wife that you are getting rid of the washer and dryer, don't really need them, it can all be done by hand.

Maybe that will put it in context for her. :confused3:

Good luck and look forward to some new implement pics tomorrow. :cool2:

I actually use a girder on chains to level my drive I angle it to pull the taleings in the direction I need it it has to be a heavy girder to keep it cutting I got it at a scrap yard years ago

Your wife is DANGEROUS:shocked:

Actually, the $400 should be spent to replace the dryer which only shuts itself off when it feels like it (Never on the cycles my wife uses) and I get all bothered when it runs all day long because nobody checks it!

She will remind me I already promised her a new dryer, fridge, dishwasher, and planned to put in propane and upgrade the stove.

I better not listen to your wife!!!

Actually my wife's point really is, band-aid the driveway, get some more gravel, and look for the attachments I need in spring...
