When was your house built?

Original house was built in 1949, an Aladdin kit house sold in Bay City, Michigan...first picture...added on and gutted and rebuilt interior and exterior of original house in 2002-2003. I have a copy of the original purchase order dated 5/20/49....$3633 with tax and the 5% cash discount. :laughing:

My first house, which I built in 1967 was $14,000 .. complete.. appliances and all. I did the construction work, farmed out wiring, plumbing, & plaster. The house was was a "pre-cut" .. outside and inside walls framed, rafters cut.
I don't expect to see that again, real soon.

Yeah, I built my first house cash out of pocket from my wages building bridges in the mid '70s. 1150 sf, free and clear. The way prices have gone up and wages have gone down, you could never do that today. I figured once I would have to make more than $50/hour to match what I was earning in 1976.

New house we live in was built in 1998/1999. Never rained on during construction until under roof/shingles. Paid in full in 2008, 21 years early, thought CITI morgage was going to fail and didn't want any part of that mess.

Old house built about 1870 along with the large bank barn. Not a level floor in the whole house. But, alot of charcter.

Have lived in a few older places though - our old pub in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England was built in 1767. Before that I had a farm near Abergavenny, where the house dated from around 1845...

Our house is not as cool as some of these, love the one on the water. Ours was started in the summer of 2003 and we moved in 2 weeks before Christmas the same year. I was amazed that the actual structure was built in 4 days by a contractor. We did a ton of the finish work (still doing some) so that we could afford extras like solid doors, radiant heat and a 10' deep farmers porch. We also had it built the way we wanted it, that makes for lots of decision making on placement for things like doors, outlets, switches and the like. After 7 years it needs repainting and all the 7 year old appliances are breaking at the same time. Still love it there though.

Our house was built in 1721...

Amazing - almost 300 yrs old. Must be on some oldest houses list. Our first house was in Enfield. Built in 1865 and looked it. Yours is very nice.

VERY nice. Looks as though the owners through the centuries have been very considerate of the house's origins. I suspect those dormers are a lot newer than 1721 though

My house was built in 1840, and to my understanding was on 150 acres which sold (land only) in 1827 for $25.
