I adjusted the linkage and it seems to be better. This may sound like a silly question but my max speed at full throttle is only around 8mph and the manual says 9.1mph should be the max. I am measuring the speed without any attachments on and on level pavement. Will the linkage adj on the hydro pedal affect this?I am just trying to get everything set up perfect. One day I might want tor race it!!!

If you are using #1 diesel, I think #2 diesel will have more power and might get the top speed you are looking for, :confused2:. I also assume you were using a GPS handheld unit to check your top speed,.
Welcome to the tractor forum and congrads on you new MF tractor,. Good luck with top speed, KC :D :D :D

I am using #2 diesel. I adjusted a pedal stop which allowed the pedal to be pushed further which brought the speed up. I have two gps units and verified the speed with both. Are factory service manuals available? Thanks

Yes, get your dealer to order the manuals for you. Or , get a price first. Got all manuals for our 1623 for under $100. The one for the 1635 was pennies shy of $300, but that covers the 1635/1643.

Factory service manuals are a must.I'am telling you this because of what you said you did with the pedal stop screw.[bolt] the screw is set at a certain spot to keep the pedal from moving to far and doing damage to the inside of your hdrostatic unit.If your not careful you'll do lots of internal damage.

First off, congrats on the new tractor!

Seriously, Massey Driver is right. I understand you want everything to be perfect, but hold off on the "fine tuning" and "tweaking" until you get some time and experience with the machine. You far more likely to create a problem where there was none then actually improve anything by making adjustments without fully understanding the machine.

I suggest you use the machine for a couple hundred hours, do the scheduled maintenance, focus on being safe and improving your operator skills. If, after you have used the machine for a while, you still believe there something not right then start looking for the actual issue.

Once again congrats on the tractor. I'm sure you will really enjoy it!

Agree 100% with your comments.... use your new machine, do the maintenance ( you will learn lots about your new machine ) and after all this is there is still some MAJOR issues, then look into it further. Some times the best intentions to fix the small things, will turn into MAJOR things..... :ashamed:

My local Napa has hydraulic fluid that that clearly says meets or exceeds permatran III specs. Any experience with this napa fluid?

I would recommend using either Permatran, or Amsoil ATH synthetic. They are the only two that have been proven trouble free. Some have run other brands, and had no problems. And some reported issues.
