Buying Advice Time to buy

OK... I've been pestering you good people for a couple of weeks now learning and researching. You have been very patient with my questions and I appreciate all I have learned. Now it is time to buy. I've decided on the Kioti for because of weight, value, and a reputable dealer just 5 miles away.

The CK27 gear will do the job and personally that is the one I would choose but the wife says she wants the hydro so she can play with it too. That throws a bit of a wrinkle because now I'm wondering if I should step up to a CK30 or CK35 to make up for the parasitic loss. It's a $2,200 difference to go from the CK27HST to a CK35HST. I don't plan on using the PTO at all (at least in the foreseeable future) so I guess they would both do the job.

Which one should I get? :confused2:

Go for the CK35 HST. I never thought I would be using the PTO but did buy a used post hole auger. Now that we have calves I am thinking of a rototiller to make more seeded pasture for them.

I bought my CK30hst, because my wife also told me to get a hydro drive so she could use it. Believe it or not, she does use the tractor and loves it. Back then, I had test driven a CK25hst, which now is the CK27hst, and my CK30hst. You could feel a big difference with the 5hp upgrade and I also felt the $1,000 price increase. The CK35hst, actually 34hp, wasn't available then. There has been only a few times I would like to have more hp but I wouldn't want to go any less. You are correct in that the hst does have some loss over a gear. If you are planning on keeping this tractor for a reasonable length of time, I'd go for the 35 if you can do it but wouldn't go for less than the 30. The weight of the tractor lets you put the hp to the ground and you can push and pull more than you think this smaller tractor could do. If you eventually end up using the pto, you'll have all the hp you need to run matching attachments with ease. Mine runs a 6ft brush hog without a problem but if it gets very thick, I just have to slow down my speed a bit. Someone had posted that Kioti may discontinue the 30 and just go with the 27 and 35. I haven't seen a dealer confirm this though. Good luck on your decision and your wife will like the hydro.

I'm an HST fan. But, I don't understand why a woman can't use a gear. They really aren't any harder to operate. It's not like a car. Especially with the shuttle shifter. And you still have to use the clutch for pto attachments on a CK HST.
