I bought a few years back a case of ''Power Service'' diesel fuel conditioner on special and still have 4 bottles leftover. Have just notice there is a date on the bottles. Could this be an expiry date or manufacture date? I just can not remember the year that I bought them, but had to be around that date. I cannot imagine that their is an expiry date on conditioner, but then again I've see weirder thinks. I've check at my local ''auto center'' and the new bottle of PS have no date on them. Would like to know what you guys think before continuing using it.

Not sure about Power Service but Stanadyne says right on their website that their product should be used within 12 months of the date on the container whether it was opened or not and that is loses some potency after 12 months.

I only buy the small containers anymore and watch the date on the bottle...and pick from the ones in the back like buying milk from a store.

Q What is the shelf life of Stanadyne's Diesel Fuel Additives?
A Stanadyne fuel additives can be stored for up to 12 months without deteriorating if they are unopened and in a suitable storage environment. Additives will begin to deteriorate when stored longer or improperly but can still be used but may lose some effectiveness.

The reason you got your PS on "special" is because the store probably wanted to get rid of them LOL because they were on the shelf too long.

You are a real friend Brian, but I would not want to clutter a good friend with my junk. :) But I read you loud and clear. ;)

You may be right as for the special, but all of the product that were available on the shelf, none of them had dates. No Stanadyne do. I will check if they have a website. Thanks! Henri

Well I think I have my answer. I found this on PS website. I could not find anything about the product having to be use before a time limit. Thanks! Henri

(The Power Service products are manufactured in the United States in Weatherford, Texas, unless otherwise indicated on the product label. The product manufacture date is stamped on the product container.)

Every bottle of Stanadyne product I have bought does have a date code. It's the first 4-5 digits printed on the bottle.

That is the code date for the date of manufacture. If it has an expiration date it should have an additional code such as exp 07/2007 or use by 07/2011 next to date of manufacture. I make Gillette deo and we code date our products with an exp date in addition to the manufacture date.

older power service may not be ULSD formulated. i remember when they started marking them that way.

My guess is that ps, like many other addatives is somewhat diesel, or similar, and may have a higher PPM of sulfur than the ULSD, before it was re-formulated.

Use it. It may lose some of it's maximum effect, but certainly won't hurt anything. It's like prescription drugs...they lose effectiveness and potency over time, but will not harm you if taken after their expiration date. Just don't try to compensate for effectiveness by using/taking more then normally directed.
