I can definately tell you that alot of these dealers do not want to sell you anything via there websites.

Descriptions are like this (F-150 4x4 ss crw) thats it. then the MSRP.
No photos, sticker, axle ratios, interior materials, trim package, nothing.

Aggravating having to call and ask about 10 different trucks. And I am convinced that the sales people know far, FAR less about there own trucks than I do. Here I am explaining the truck to them. *facepalm*

Not sure if you have seen the Edmunds website (2012 Ford F-150) but you might want to visit their site. It provides a lot of data on the trucks and the available options as well the MSRP, Invoice Price, and the price people are paying for vehicles in your area with the options you want. I printed out the data and used it during the negotiations.
Another option to keep open is to look for Dealer Demo vehicles, i found my truck by asking if they had any demos available and come to find out the finance manager was using the truck i ended up buying. It had 3000 miles on it but was able to save ~10,000 on the price as well as negotiate an extended warranty to cover the 3000 miles she had on the vehicle.

Hopefully this helps you.

First off I would not worry about the engine or warranty. You never seem to keep your vehicles long enough. Second, drive them both. I have and the Eco Boost is awesome but the 5.0L is no slouch either. After driving them both there is no way I could own a 5.0L. Just not the same. I would be like me trading my Diesel F-350 for a gas version. I would just never be happy.

Also, no matter what you do get the built in trailer brake controller. Its $160 option and its by far the best feature you can add to any Ford truck. No matter how good a aftermarket controller is it does not hold a candle to the Ford one. Once you tow with one you will not believe how much better your trailers mate up to the truck and work as one.

I am definately going to drive them both. I know it is much easier to find a 5.0 and the dealers are more willing to deal on them. Oh, and I will for sure get the controller, after having used a F-250 with the controller I know it is well worth it.

Yeah, I haven't kept anything more than 2 years. But I have never bought a brand new truck, usually I buy them a few years old and sell them a year or so later for more than I paid. :D I actually made money selling my last 3 used trucks. Orlando FL has the largest auto auction in the USA, and used vehicles are much cheaper down there.

After calling a few dealers my head is hurting. They all act clue less.

I feel your pain on having sucky dealers around your area. It's like that where I live too. You see these upscale, fancy, loaded with cars/trucks dealerships and you think "hey I bet I can get a good deal here". nope. these are the ones who will rip you off. they're usually thousands higher, add all sorts of b.s. fees, don't really want to work to make you happy, wouldn't remember your face or name 5 seconds after you bought from them, have a high turnover rate in salesman. I deal with a small family owned dealership in my area. they litteraly have 4 salesman. the one I deal with, I've bought two trucks and a car for my mother from. the only drawback is they are a Chevy/GMC dealership so if I ever got the itch to own a Dodge, Nissan, Ford, etc. I'd have to go to one of those mega-dealerships and be fed to the wolves. I wanted a new F-150 set up exactly like you're looking for, my friend has one with the 5.0 and I love it! I just happened to get a better deal on a GMC crew cab with the 6.2. I can't remember the name but I've heard of a Ford dealership in Alabama that's supposed to be really good. I'll search online and see if I can find the name and pass it along to you. People rave about this place from what I hear. There's also a good Ford dealership in Chattanooga, TN called Mountain View Ford. they are good people and will give you a good deal from what I've been told as well.

Chris is correct the factory Ford brake controller is flawless. The dealer can add the Ford controller and reprogram the truck if you find the truck you want without the controller.

Bought a 2010 F-150 XLT with the 5.4 liter last year from my local Ford dealer. They sell at invoice less 50% of the hold back. No hassles, walk in and ask for the price on whatever car/truck on their lot and they will show you the invoice and holdback. Price was best I could find statewide. Didn't know it at the time, but they sell on the internet and have the web site "www.weselleverywhere.com" Ford Dealer CT | Used Cars CT | Ford Dealers New Haven, Hartford, New London, Madison | Ford Service & Parts CT. If'in I recall right, they've sold to most states in the US and many places overseas. No idea how they work that since I was local, but their web site has pricing (not MSRP), but don't know if it's invoice less half the holdback or not. Checked now and they show only 3 F-150 supercrews, all with the 5.0 engine.

Good luck.

Edit: Said internet but meant e-bay and it looks like more info including full spec's (e.g. axle ratio) are listed there.

If you have a farm or a business license of any kind go through the fleet department. You'll save the most, get the least hassle and best service.

That would be sweet, if you could find out who that dealer from Alabama was. It's funny, because I have been finding way better deals up in SC. lol

But I don't know what I would rather do, talk to dealers all day on the phone or get punched in the face. It has been a nightmare.

I called a an old aquaintance of mine earlier, I guess you could call him a friend. He is a new car manager at a Ford dealership an hour and half away. Things were great for a minute was we shot the bull, but as soon as I told him I was looking at getting a truck, he got all salesmanny on me.
"why don't you come on down and we will see if we can get down to a payment you would be comfortable with. blah, blah, blah."

I said " Randy, you only got one that has what I want, I see the MSRP is 44,965. What can I get it for reallistcally bud?"
He said "why don't you come on down and blah blah blah."
I said "Randy, I am hour and half away, I am not driving all the way down there to talk prices. We can talk now."

He said "I really don't know" then came out with a number that was a whopping 2k off MSRP.

I said "Don't take this the wrong way, but we aren't even in the same ball park. Good talking to ya." and hung up.
