In the past, I always used the compressed air sprayer. However, when I recently sprayed the box blade, I used an HVLP, which I had gotten to spray some furniture, which I built for the grand kids. I thought, the HVLP worked good, with a lot less over-spray and mess. Also, no water to worry about and the air entering the gun is warm.
Edit: Maybe I should qualify that. It was a cheap and dirty, self contained Wagner, not a professional unit.
