Tractor
1962 Fordson Super Major
Hi All,
My name is Mike. I am new to the whole tractor thing but not to forums. I have always found forums to contain the most valuable resources. I have wrenched on many things from rock crawler to hotrods but never real tractors.

I recently purchased an 11 acre property with a loooonnnggg dirt driveway and about 4 acres of field. Knowing that I would have to get a second mortgage to pay someone to plow my driveway, I decided that it was the right time to buy a tractor.

After some searching on a tight budget, I found my machine :)

1962 Fordson Super Major with a backhoe and a loader.
She needs to be brought back to her true blue color but it's no rush for me.
(I'll post a picture when I am out of work)

I hope to learn a lot from everyone here. Like I said, These forums contain the most valuable resources; the users.

Mike

I have a real soft spot for the old ones. I had a max budget of $5K for a tractor. All the newer tractors in that range were just not comparable.

I have my eye on the 30s vintage. Once I am settled into my new house I'll probably pick one up as a project.

Welcome to TBN. I used to live in Amherst, I miss the town but not 101A. I now live across the river. Looks like you'll be needing that tractor tomorrow night.

You'll quickly find out that moving snow with a loader is a major PITA. Any plans to mount a plow to it?

I actually just picked up an old speedcast plow blade last night. I need to make the mounts for the bucket.
