What is a reasonable rate for a Dump Truck?

Sorry to hear about the hand, I was wondering about the jobs you have lined up, and remember you are supposed to be taking it easy?
Well anyway, I knew at the end of the day, you would have some more FEL skills under your belt. Couple more years you will surprise even yourself with what you can do with a FEL. I have never spent a minute with a backhoe but I have seen guys do stuff I could hardly believe with them. Practice makes the difference. I have been operating a loader about 20 years now, and I while am sure there are guys that operate them every day that are much better, I can usually get done what ever I want done with it. Hope you heal up soon, so you can all that dad-gummed work done:)

Three loads ~22.5 tons each.

Four Hours or more of backdragging and moving material. It clumps REALLY well and it was almost impossible to tailgate, boulder sized chunks kept messing things up. the material ended up spread REALLY THICK and wide in spots (esxpecialy where I cannot get to the excess with the bucket!!!

I had a really rough day...

I am WAY better at backdragging, removing the toothbar, removing the grapple. My hand is killing me...

I've gotta go get ready for a job interview in CA tomorrow, so wish me luck and I will update it all later.

Be well everyone.
David

So how far did you get with the three loads as far as length of road and width?

Good luck with the interview.

David, now you have a good idea of why you need to get some sort of grading implement in the near future. ;)

I need to add material to my gravel road.

I am planning to add as much as 50 tons of recycled concrete.
(2 large dump trucks, tail gated)

I can get said material within 20 miles from my house for $9/ton, but they do not deliver.

So I will start calling local hauling companies, but I have NO IDEA what is a reasonable rate.

Like i said, it is approx 20 miles between the material and my house. call it 40 per rd trip, 2 rd trips for a large box dump truck. 80 miles (less actually) and about 2 hours of driving, and maybe 1/2 hour of tailgating.

What is a reasonable rate?

Thanks in advance,
David

I'd look around your area for a guy with a truck/trailer transfer box rig if you want him to spread the gravel. That's what we use around here for driveway maintenance.

David, not ready to let my 72" Gannon go just yet,:( hopefully at the end of the year and my grader blade won't do you much good after it gets cut up into small enough pieces to fit into luggage. I could rush the top and tilt set though and those would fit in your luggage. They may not like how heavy the bags were though. It won't matter after you get this job, then you'll be bucks up and will be able to pay the shipping or just buy all new implements from your dealer and make him happy.

Good luck with the potential job. ;)
