Fire fighting query

Hey...
Fire prevention will cite you if a tree is too close to a chimney... you still need to go to the permit counter and pay $65 for a tree removal permit and wait 4 weeks til the public comment period has closed...

I had to do this with an old walnut tree in the backyard...

Oh... Fired Department came to check on the removal and saw it was still there... good thing I had my paid permit application on hand or I would have been fined.

Pretty bad when a common sense matter has to be taken care of by permit. Just makes you wonder what someone did to get all that started.

I can just hear it, really officer my wife wanted me to take out this stump right next to my house, who would ever think it would catch my house on fire? I only had to pour a little gas on it to get it started. After watching it for a while I decided to run out and mow my pasture. The next thing I saw, my house was on fire and it took the fire department 20 minutes to get here.

They always want to blame someone else right?

If I didn't know better I would think somebody was making fun of me here....:laughing: my feelings are if a burning stump 23 feet away spreads to my house, a burning stump 25 feet away probably would too.

No, I was thinking about the guy who lit it off about 3 foot from his house causing the ruckus and that guy behind the desk to say "Well if we say 25 feet there will never be another incident like that again". Lol.

I was not trying to prove anybody wrong or myself right; only trying to answer the OP's question with a little extra info!

Here in Ontario in most municipalities you also need a permit for most things (including fire pits and burying pools)

It gets worse the borough near me has a shade tree commission they come along and plant a tree between the curb and sidewalk on your property and you cant say no!

In 5 or 10 years when the roots push up the walk creating a tripping hazard the building inspector cites you for the hazard.
Then you get the privilege of paying for the repair too.

Those trees are golden you aren't allowed to cut prune or remove them or you get fined and get fined for the leaf litter if you don't clean it up.

Yup...the brush pile shown is 500 feet from the closest house and almost 900 feet from my house, and i still needed a permit and inspection...GO FIGGER !!!!!

HOLYCRA$.... man, if they tried that here in Idaho, there would be a lynch party hehe.

Actually, back in 1996 when i moved ther from southern Calif, i actually called the city to find out what permits are required to cut trees on my 20 acres, as i was used to calif's no cut policies (though at that time was mostly for Oak trees). They just about laughed me off the phone.

They told me its my property..do what you want with it.

AS it should be everywheres.
