I came across this old picture of my stepfather using our jeep to hoist up a blower pipe up the silo with a block and tackle. Same jeep was used for plowing and pulling a New Holland baler through the field.

That is a nice looking 3B. It looks like it was setup for a snow plow too. I would love to see any other pictures of the jeep in action if you have them. From the looks of the station wagon in the background, I'm guessing the photo was taken in the mid-50s. Jeep was still selling farm equipment (3pt hitch and PTO) then.

Thanks for sharing.

Tcreely, great photo! Hey send me a PM, I don't know how to get in touch with you.

I love Jeeps. Owned a 54 Willys Wagon, then a 56. Each had 20 years of abuse before I ever saw them and I discovered I was spending at least an hour under them for every hour in 4wd. The last straw was when I put a nasty spiral crack in the bellhousing of the 56 (w/ 292 Ford), of course way out in the woods. Crawled home with no clutch action and decided I was nuts to continue with stuff so thrashed.

So I bought a 4 speed '72 Wagoneer and never had to fix anything, even giving it all the same abuse. It's nice to get back on to the pavement Sunday evening, getting dark and 120 miles from home, and know you will make it home no problem. I wish I still had that Wagoneer.

Photo when I was 35 years younger ...
Yes it's sliding along on its tail with the rear tires dangling. No, that didn't hurt a thing. It's sliding on the frame-hitch assembly which can take a lot of abuse. I never did put a dent in that thing. Then a drunk totalled it while it was parked at a parking meter.

It is never too late to get the jeep bug again. Maybe you should find a replacement for the '72.

Congrats Barry! I've read every post you guys have put up on your farmjeep website.... it is a wealth of knowledge! I own a '57 cj-5 with the rear PTO, minus the 3-point hitch, and a '67 cj-5. I would love to find an old newgren or love 3-point for my '57!

Your Jeep looks great and I hope that you get many more years of enjoyment out of it

I wish! That Wagoneer was one-of-a-kind, built to Mil spec. The title indicated it was surplussed when it was 18 months old by the Navy, with 90k miles on it. It lacked many features of the retail Wagoneers. Note in my photo no chrome around the windshield moulding. (I think it was model 1414, if anyone has a detailed model# history. Maybe it was the export version.)

That '72 Wagoneer had several other low bid built-to-spec 'features'; no A/C, no power steering, non-power drum brakes. But it had a 304 V8 and Ford truck 4-speed (floor shift). I don't think either were ever offered in retail Wagoneers in the US. It was a real Jeep in spirit - who needs power steering anyway? just more stuff to break out in the woods.

The Wagoneer's replacement was this '88 Trooper (4cyl, 4 speed, and finally, AC!) that I bought new. Here I'm turning around in the very tight parking spot at our gold mining claim.

I drove the Trooper 16 years until my neighbor's tree fell on it - it still ran like new and nothing had ever broken in all my offroad adventures.

Next I bought a 99 Subaru Outback. Including my 4x8 trailer, it serves the role of a farm pickup. I don't use it for boulder crawling like the real 4x4's but it meets my present needs. I'll just link to my Subaru pix since this is a jeep thread.

If anyone's interested - Jeeps in India, 2004.

(Jeeps have been built in India for 60? years).

This is a 'taxi stand' out at the highway, waiting to carry shoppers back to their homes far off the highway via roadless paths.

Thanks! We have just changed to a blog format for updates and so we will be adding articles on a more regular basis. Evan and I had a jeep day today, so I'll do another update soon.

I don't know of any lifts of any brand available right now. If I come across something, I can let you know.

That is very special and doubt you could found a exact replacement, but you never know. Thanks for sharing the history.
