I have a question. I was wondering exactly how you drove your differential with the hydraulic motor. I see the chain on the hydraulic motor but how about the differential. Did you add a sprocket to the differential too? If so how did you attach the sprocket to the differential?

I ask because I have a differential out of an Buick regal that I want to hydraulically drive for an articulated loader backhoe.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing more.

Hi, Yes your 100% correct. I thought long and hard, initialy wanting to use direct drive and some sort of coupling, but space was a premium, so I ended up with a slightly over-driven chain drive. The sprocket is (rather roughly) welded to the flange on my diff. I turned a spigot on it first so as to ensure perfect alighnmment. I have had no issues soo far.
The three point hitch is working (bottom arms lift and lower hydraulicaly) all that remains is to pipe it neatly and fit my top link. Pics tomorrow after painting!

As promised, here is the pictures of the finished article; Complete with three point linkage, oil filter and now a handle AND foot control for direction.

Chaffe,

Fantastic! Impressive work.
You give this beginner hope that one day I will actually be ready to build something.

Any idea about the lifting capacity of your 3ph? Very interesting.

thankyou! not sure on capacity yet! not too much id say as such a small tractor will lift the front very easily, but it lifted my 200lb mate standing on the ends of the lift arms!

I have a lifetime lease of 1-square foot of Scotland at the LAPHROAIG DISTILLERY. I'll bet your mower and micro tractor would be perfect for maintaining my wee patch of land. :)
