I am about ready to buy a new BX25. I would like to equip it with a thumb. Does Kubota make their own thumb. My dealer says he has never sold a tractor/BH with a thumb. I have read the posts on the Bro-Tek and a few on the Wallender (sp) but have not read anything about a Kubota thumb. The only BX25 in stock is not equipped with a thumb. I can add one later, but want to make sure it is an easy add on.

I don't want to snap off the hydraulic fitting in the dipperstick!

Thanks for any input or recommendation.

I got a wallenstein and its been great. Personally i thought the jaws of the Wallenstein were a bit better and would provide more grip than the brotek. ANd there is also the issue that the Wallenstein is self contained and stores itself on the hoe when not in use, where the brotek requires a toplink which you have to store (and more importantly remember where you left it!)

Scooby074 - Have you any issues with the Wallenstein thumb slipping on the boom? It looks like you are using it on a bigger tractor than the BX25. I also thought the jaws looked like a better design on the Wallenstein.

MessickFarmEqu - Thanks for answering my question.

I was at my local Mahindra dealer this week. Here is what he can sell me for about $650.00. I think it may be my next attachment purchase.

I've got an EMP thumb on my 25 and it works well for me. Search the Attachments forum and you'll get a ton o' hits about thumbs. Yes, this is a bolt-on, but I putt slippage marks on to monitor any movement. Once it settled into place, have seen no movement since that time. Used it last weekend to demo an old work bench. You'd be surprised what you can figure out to use it for.

Regardless of manufacturer, get one, most important piece of advice... :)

Its on a BX25.

No issues with slipping at all. And ive used it pretty hard considering the size of the tractor.

There is only one problem, and it may not be a problem for most, but if you get a HEAPING bucket of the clay like soil around here, the mount for the thumb will do its best to pack that clay into the bucket. It makes for a " fun" time. I cant say if the brotek will do it, but i imagine anything mounted in that area will have the same effect.

I have the Wallenstein on my BX24 and have had no problems with it. It seems well matched to the dipper and bucket and I've noted only slightest bit of slippage up the dipper arm. I would definitely buy it again.

Used the Bro-Tek ripper today to remove some small trees. Worked great, cut the roots in 5 minutes, then pulled the whole thing out. Elapsed time-10 minutes per tree. Then used the Bro-Tek thumb to move everything over to the burn pile!
Get the Bro-Tek add-ons, they work great!
