Those 300 I6 motors are bulletproof. My Neighbor was coming home from the field pulling a haywagon. When he checked the oil the next morning, he found none. He had tore a hole in the pan, not sure when, but no oil spots in the driveway. It is a 10 minute drive home from his field. He changed the pan, filled her up, and ran it until the floor rotted thru and the seat legs were sitting on the frame. He bought a 03 250 with a 5.4. what a dog/ pos. plug troubles/coils/rust thru in the middle of the bed already/door bottoms rotted out, and finally the rear end cover rotted thru.
I have run an 81 f100 300 I6 2wd in the demolition derby, took second.
I ran an 80 f150 I6 4x4 in it 2 years ago-3rd because of the swiss cheese frame-more good quality engineering. Who thought it would be a good idea to cut several 3" holes in the frame of a pickup?
Built my log splitter around one.
