Whats the largest snowblower that you can fit on a BX comfortably?

There are no 48-54" blowers available used here so im wondering if anyone's ever ran a larger blower on a BX?

There are lots of 72"+ machines around, but i doubt that a BX could even carry one let alone have enough hp to run it.

I missed out on a nice hardly used 54" for 1000 OBO a few weeks ago, and im kicking myself now:(

I run a 50" Buler on the back of my Bx2350, I wouldn't recommend going any larger than that. Mind you the buler blowers are way too over built and under designed, not a very efficient blower and I am looking to get rid of mine.

Interesting. Ive seen a few videos of the Buhlers on youtube and they seemed to work decent?

What are you going to go with?

If i get one im thinking Pronovost. Both Prono and woods are available locally.

Last winter we had more snow that usual in our area.I have a 60" Buhler/Farm King mounted on my BX2200 and it worked very well. If the snow is heavy/wet then the first cut must be taken fairly slow and followed by narrower subsequent cuts.
I have been extremely happy with my unit.

I'll be going with the Shulte BX-62 Tractor Loader Snow Blower with the hydro pack for the pto which is hands down a better blower than the Buler, even the three point version.
Now don't get me wrong, in my thirty plus years as a pattern maker I have worked for Both Johny Buler and John Shulte and considered them both friends and whist the Buler will move snow the Shulte is just simply a better machine. It's more expensive yes, but you get a lot more bang for the buck and with the Hydro pack on the three point running off of the pto I can put the blower where it needs to be, namely on the loader lift arms. Plus the Hydro pack can be used for a whole bunch of other applications such as post hole auger, log splitter, and hedge trimmer, etc.

Last winter I installed rubber pads on the fan to get rid of the 5/8" gap between the fan tips and the fan housing which helped a lot and I replaced those saucer shaped things with proper skid skis, but it still needs a second smaller top auger a shorter three knuckle pto shaft with bearing support so that it can be moved closer to the tractor , cupped fan blades and a few other things that I just don't feel like doing.
The only reason that I have the Buler is that the wife bought the tractor for me as a birthday present last year and it came with the tractor and for no other reason.

Do you think the BX can handle a 62" blower? In your first post you suggested not going above 50. A 62 and a powerpack sure isnt going to be a cheap setup unless your getting a significant discount ;)

I looked at the shulte brochure and i see what you mean. It does look heavier than whats typical around here. There are no Shulte dealers that i know of in my province however.

A dealer 200 mi away started carrying a "made in canada" blower but they dont mention the brand. If i was to guess id say its JWC, but i thought they went out of business. Im not crazy on the design. It has a flat area behind the auger and i prefer a curved area. These are cheap blowers, starting at around $1950 for a 48" IIRC. See attached image.

I have a Honda 928 blower so i know the importance of good design. That thing throws a mile. And never clogs. Thats a good design and what i want in a tractor mount if i go that way.

I've run a 60" Meteor on the back of my BX23 for the past 2 winters. I have a 1/4 mile long steep gravel driveway and it has performed flawlessly, and we get quite a bit of snow. Rear tire chains are a must for my use.

Your correct, I did say I wouldn't go over a 50" blower but what I meant is that I wouldn't go over 50" with a conventional blower. The Shulte is Not a conventional blower. Most people wouldn't go for the Front mount Shulte simply because of cost as the full package would cost almost as much a Bx itself, but as I said I can use at least four implements with that one power pack and with my property being fully exposed to the north and a 1/2 mile long gravel driveway I need all of the blast that I can get.
Now the Shulte blower is not for everyone, the reason being cost but they will outperform any blower that I have seen.

If you live in town or in a different type of local l than I do than the Buler or many of the others will do the job, they just won't do it as well.

The powerpack will be nice for those other uses. Member grsthegreat just got a front mount blower for his Kioti? and posted a thread. His is a Quick Attach brand. THere is some interesting discussion in the thread, particularly about the potential for damaging the loader arms.

If anything id say a conventional would end up with more horsepower applied to it because you dont have any losses from running the hydraulic pump.
do you think that a BX could handle a shulte 62" rear mount?

I did find a Shulte dealer in the province, its the deere dealer in Halifax. Unfortunately thats a couple hours away.
