Tell them to air frieght it. Try to push the cost on them, it wont be that much, it is small and light. If nothing else, split it with them, or pay all yourself if you need it that bad. Philip.

It's already been ordered, and it's not really an emergency...just very inconvenient since they have had it since the 9th...

Is there something special about Kubota alternators that they cannot be repaired?

If you really need the tractor and can't deal with the down-time I would check with an electrical shop that repairs starters and alternators, even if you had to pay for the repair.

Otherwise 1 week to receive the part is not too bad.

Mac

Yeah, one week is not that bad, but they have had it for almost two already...

I do believe that my dealer would pull one off a lot model to get me going, he has given a loaner unit when in for warranty work also.

Thought of that as well. There's probably a dozen sitting outside doing nothing. One of them can do the waiting for the backordered part.

I actually thought the same thing...

You give up too easy. Still get one air freighted in for you. The one on the boat can sit on someones shelf ready for next customer. Philip.

I bet there are plenty of them in Gainesville GA, the problem would be getting one from them....

don't forget that there were many parts and components backlogged due to the earthquake and tsunami.

car dealers were having lots of shortages.

I don't think it is that rare. The field winding in my Bobcat TLB went open circuit at 1400 hours. My dad and I tore it down and he had never seen the field go bad. Everything else checked out, brushes were fine. I also got a replacement on Ebay, it was an exact fit, made in Japan. $120 I believe.

Well, we might be able to do that, but would rather not push it with the dealer...They have been good through all this and were apologetic.
