What happens when you let off the pedal quickly? My tractor seems to slow the hydro at a specific rate, which seems to be fine on gravel in 2wd but I could see someone jackknifing towing a trailer in 2wd on grass for example.

Mine will throw you in the floor if you aren't buckled. I've had my cruise control on more than once and switched it off before I had my foot on the pedal and it is a very sudden stop. :eek:

I hear you on that aspect! :) What speed (RPMs) and gear are you crusin' at when you attempt to fly ahead of the tractor?!
I've noticed too that trying to stop quickly for whatever reason when cruise is on is difficult, obviously, and I try to get to the switch before I need to slow down or stop, or at least reduce RPMs and then shut off the switch. It is an easier motion to slow RPMs than to try to hit the switch due to it's somewhat awkward location. At least those are my observations from 600 hours on Kioti hydrostats with cruise control.

On mine if i tap on the brakes the cruise control disengages. doesn't this occur on yours?

Probably, I'll have to verify- I usually use the methods I described instead of braking....

On the DKs with electric cruise control, the brake light switch is routed into the control unit so when you apply brake, signal from the brake switch shuts the cruise control off.

Yep, just touching the brake disengages the cruise and I try to have foot resting on the hst pedal so there's no sudden braking.

I carry a lot of big loads of lumber on the forks up to my house site almost a half a mile a way & part on the pavement. To keep from jerking the load when coming off of High Range cruise I first cover the hst pedal(light pressure) with my foot, then disengage the cruise by tapping the brake. If you just tap the brake, the machine slows down way too fast, so learn how to feather the pedal.

Exactly. That's what I normally do, but a few times I've failed to cover the pedal. It will wake you up when the steering wheel contacts the groin area.
