Snow Largest snowblower for a BX

Jason, it shouldn't be a problem as when the blower is sitting on the ground it really has no weight as far as the tractor is concerned and if you have a loader the weight of the blower will be offset by the loader. During the summer I have a 720 pound ballast weight and even that is not a problem when I have the loader attached.

When on the ground your right. Issue is you have to get around the yard with the blower in the air.

I just checked Normands website and i should have enough HP. They require 18 minimum. THe BX is about that.

One last thing i like about the Econor, the chute path is clear right down to the fan. Some manufacturers have baffles or restrictions in the section leading up to the chute!!! thats just asking for a blockage in wet snow. Agrotrend appeared to be the worst offender in this regard.

Jason, As has been mentioned in the thread that you posted the 60" Will overwork your Bx. Now I'm not familiar with the models and types that you mentioned, but down east where you live I tend to think that you get a lot of wet heavy snow as apposed to the dry frozen out crud that we get here in Manitoba and having said that, even here the 50" is as large as I would go with a conventional blower and even that is pushing it.

If my Buhler had an extra auger and a Much lighter, say 1/8" thick stainless steel cupped bladed fan as apposed to the 1/4" thick flat bladed ill conceived monstrosity that it has, it would be a huge improvement. But as it is it don't have those things and as I have said in heavy packed drifts it is all that my Bx will handle.

Just because a tractor Can do a thing, it does not hold that it Should do that thing. Case in point, last year while I was away my dear sweet wife decided to buy a tiller as we have a VERY large garden and she didn't like me using a perfectly good rear tine walk behind tiller (me being so **** old an all). What she bought was a Brand New Woods TSR 60" reverse rotation tiller for $2,400. Yes it does till the garden but at what cost to the tractor? So having talked to the dealer about down sizing to a 52" between end plates which gives a 48" cut tiller and being told that it will cost an extra $500.to downsize with a trade in the decision has been made that this spring the 60" tiller will get to know a cutting torch and a welder and will become a 48" tiller for the cost of some gas for the torch and a few welding rods. It's a PITA but it will be done. Cripes I might even repaint it, yuh know to make it all nice and pretty fer the wife.

With the smaller tiller I will be able to till deeper and faster, without killing the tractor. Same thing applies to snow blowers
Bigger is not always better.

Bought a B2789 blower today. Went with the 51" so as not to overwork the machine (as discussed) and the fit and finish of the factory blower was heads and tails above all the ones ive seen in person. Throw in a excellent price by my dealer and it was imposable to pass up.


Ill post up pics once i get it assembled.

The partial masking of the impeller drum with a piece of steel reducing the open area of the exposed portion of the impeller drum allows the impeller paddles to take all the snow that enters the impeller drum and throw out of the impeller that is why you see the little quarter moon covering the impeller drum opening as snow like water is lazy and a portion will be thrown out of the impeller drum. If you look at Pronovost their entire line of snow clearers
has them right doen to the 48 inch PUMA.

The videos ive seen online of all the BX mounted blowers regardless of brand, (although some are better than others) are a little discouraging.

My 928 honda, with 9 measly horsepower, throws snow about 30'+ without breaking a sweat, yet a BX with 18hp (pto), 23 (eng) cant seem to throw half that. They both have about the same hp/inch. Its all in the efficiency of the design.

Scooby, I have the 828 Honda and it is one of the best walk behinds I've seen. I also have a BX25 with a standard BX2750D 50" front-mounted blower and it will blow the doors off that Honda. I agree 100 percent with dsmiley. My bx24 with bx2750d blows the doors of my Honda. The is good but no comparison in my book

The powerpack will be nice for those other uses. Member grsthegreat just got a front mount blower for his Kioti? and posted a thread. His is a Quick Attach brand. THere is some interesting discussion in the thread, particularly about the potential for damaging the loader arms.

If anything id say a conventional would end up with more horsepower applied to it because you dont have any losses from running the hydraulic pump.
do you think that a BX could handle a shulte 62" rear mount?

I did find a Shulte dealer in the province, its the deere dealer in Halifax. Unfortunately thats a couple hours away.

The greater concern for your mule is the weight of the implement and available traction/adhesion for the kubota- being tire ballast and chains that is the primary worry since the rear mounted implement will be creating a lot of drag and counterbalance to the weight of the mule possibly making the front light.

You would have to slow down on your first pass but other than that and running the PTO at the engine settingfor 540 R..P.M.

I looked at the puma.

1. I didnt like how the fan exit to the chute choked down. The Kubota fan exit hole was larger
2. They were more money by several hundred.
3. Availability was very limited. Stock was not due to christmas at least.
