Put on tire chains and rear blade today.
And mounted a new to me Western 9' snow plow.
Found this truck plow cheap. Tore it a apart, cleaned it up and painted. Then changed it around adding a QA plate to attach to the loader.
I need to finish running hoses from the rear remotes to run the power angle and I should be ready to go.
Now I will wait and see if my DK 35 can handle a 9' snow plow loaded with snow.

That's an impressively big and heavy-looking plow! Post pics to show how big a pile of snow it takes to stop you :)

I will try to remember to do that.

Here are a few pictures of what I started with.
Plow had a lot of rust. Took plenty of cleaning, scraping, welding and painting.

Vince, that thing's a beast. Looks like a fun project. It'll be interesting to hear how it does.

I bought an old box blade a while back. It didn't have any paint on it; was all rust. I scraped it down and wire brushed it, then painted it with POR15, and then overcoated with chevy engine orange. It's been sitting in the weather now for 3 years and no signs of rust or paint fade yet. Time will tell if the POR15 was worth the cost.

Hey Vince, nice job! I'm glad I don't need one of those here......much. But it is in the forecast for tomorrow night...........

I have a 7' plow on my DK45 and i also have chained up all 4 tires. It works with power to spare.....just keep an eye out to the lower end of the quick attach plate while plowing. if it touches the ground at all it will push the front end sideways.

I found the sweet spot for mine and i can do most of my plowing (did a 9-10" snowfall) in high range and max side tilt.

I could have gone with a wider plow, but everyone from the dealer to others here on the site recommended nothing more than 7' for my deeper snows. I need the faster speeds to blow as much of the mess off the side and over the mounds.

I had been plowing with a 7' front blade for years.
But it didn't have power angle. I was planning on converting my old 7' to power angle this fall. But I just happened along this 9' truck plow cheap and decided to try that route for now and see how it works.
I still have the 7 footer if I need it.

I was thinking of taking the same approach....was wondering how you decided where to mount th QA plate

Looks good. Can't wait to get some more snow. Just got our first snow that need be plowed two days ago, only a couple inches but I was either going to sit in here on TBN thinking of using my tractor or actually go out there and do it!

I tryed to stay a far forward as I could to keep the blade closer to the tractor/loader.
But just far enough back that the blade could pivot freely and I could still get some gusset/support bars welded in the front side of the QA plate
