Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Using FEL on gravel drive

My thoughts on the subject: set your bucket level indicator so it works at level and then see where it is when you tilt the bucket edge up slightly, as has already been suggested.
Let some snow and ice accumulate and pack it down to create a base on your gravel. Once the base is set then plow without allowing the bucket edge to scrape away the base. Once complete throw down sand or sand salt mix as needed in crucial areas.
Remember it's not street sweeping, it's plowing, which allows for it to not have to be a totally clean surface.

The only thing to watch about that is a refreeze...if you don't get it pretty close to bare and you get a melt during the day, you can end up with a pretty slick drive...especially on sections that don't get unobstructed sunlight...which describes the end of my driveway.

I persoanlly would stay far away from putting any salt on your non asphalt/cement road. With gravel it often softens the base and makes mud. (do a search and you will see some information on this) I personally just use a back blade that I turn around backwards and plow our 1/2 mile lane. Works great and removals very little gravel.

Hence the mention of throwing down a sand salt mix where needed. :)

In the south, possibly, and depending on how good a base one has on their drive. Here in VT, where things really freeze, and tend to stay frozen one can choose to use sand or a sand with limited salt, (to break up the ice), mix with excellent results, IMHO.:)
