all i know is 1500 watt electric heaters produce their heat at 100% efficiency...no matter if its a $500 Amish heater or a $29 wall-mart heater. They all produce the same heat output of approx 5,200-5,500 BTU/hr.

in areas with $0.05/ KWH you'll get good value from electric heat compared to say nat gas. But in areas with high tier rate electric charges, you'll be spending some serious $$$ heating with electric.

Can't comment on the Enenpure, but I will say that the Pelonis cube heaters are better made, last longer and the heat output feels better than the chepo $20 one's. I went through one or two cheap cube heater a year until I bought a $70 Pelonis. We heat out 450 sq ft place with one Pelonis and most of the time it is on the lowest setting. This one is now 3 years old & I bought a second one for the camper.

They are basically like any other electric heater. They are all 100% efficient. The Eden pure is just much more expensive. Also I have heard complaints of low quality and odor. Do not waste your money.

A few years ago, my Mother-in-law bought an EdenPure to go along with her other two or three electric space heaters, because her house was always plagued with cold spots. Her brother had always coveted that EdenPure, so after she died and we inherited the farm, we gave him the EP and installed a 32,000 btu LP wall furnace ($700 for more heat output than several EP's could ever hope to achieve) to combat the cold spots.

We couldn't be happier! :p

It's an ok heater. It just does the same as a $30 heater. They also make extravagant claims to justify the high cost. I hate to reward companies for lying. I have also read reports on short lived fans. By the way an electric heater is 100% efficient, but the power plant that makes electricity is about 40% efficient. A heat pump is about 300% efficient. A propane furnace can be 90% efficient. When you have multiple electric heaters to replace propane you are probably spending a lot on electricity and saving a little on propane.

My point exactly. We tossed all the electric space heaters and stuck with the propane. Our electric bills are now quite low. Plus, if there'a power outage, the propane heater is designed to run without electricity. No fan, but it still puts out heat.

On another note, I head somewhere that one of the leading causes of house fires is extension cords going to electric space heaters.

I think if you either have a single thermostat that controls the whole house making it hard not the heat the whole house, you burn fuel oil for your home ( Northeast), or your on a fixed income, buying a recommended one (Consumer reviews?)with good reviews is in your best interest.
