Congratulations - as time goes on you will realize more and more what a fabulous acquisition you've just made ! Everywhere you look on a L5450 its beef and quality stand out. This one even has a set of the original equipment remotes (valve lever beside seat). I like the Ag rubber too - plenty of grip. You've scored big time

I picked up a L5450 with LA1150A loader and Bradco 611 Backhoe. It only has 224 hours. What a great machine. I have over 200 acres and other tractors but this one is the perfect balance of size, weight, traction, power, features and reliability (as I understand). The serial number on the side of the transmission is L545-61728. All the references I find stop prior to listing this serial number so I am not sure what year it is. It appears to have spent some time outdoors as the seat and paint are not in top condition but it now has a home in the barn. I'll get the fluids all changed and rejuvenate the paint.

I wonder how many more of these gems are out there!

Well I have now spent the better part of 4 days on my "new" L5450. What great machine. This is by far the easiest of our 7 tractors to get on and off of, drive under tree branches, maneuver, etc. It is quickly becoming my "general purpose" machine, even with the Bradco 611 attached. I found a workshop manual, product guide and owner manual on EBay today, so I think I am all set.

My sense is there are not very many. Beyond the fact that people keep them forever, there weren't that many sold in the first place.

Through the '80s Kubota's L series machines were priced to penetrate the U.S. Ag market, offering more tractor for the dollar than Blue or Green. But in the early '90s L3 prices went up to reflect the higher-end product they actually were. Sales were understandably off, some dealers didn't even carry the expensive L3 models. I remember one local dealer had the brochures (no machines in stock) but another dealer didn't even mention they were available. At the time Blue and Green were cheaper, horsepower for horsepower. The L4350, L4850 and L5450 were targeted to commercial customers at a higher price point, but the number sold was relatively small.

At that time the compact tractor market for homeowners was entering a period of rapid growth. Kubota repositioned the L series product to more directly compete for those buyers, phasing out the robust construction of the L3 in favor of the Grand L's.

I am thinking of adding a quick attach and eventually a grapple and/or 4in1 bucket to make my Kubota L5450 with LA1150A loader even more useful around the farm. In that case it would share attachments (and hydraulic cylinders) with the JD machines we have, mostly a JD 5425. So as not to "mix" types of fluids, does anyone have experience with or know if the Kubota Hydraulic Shuttle with Ever Clutch is specified or able to run on JD Hy-Gard fluid?

The Ever Clutch packs (which are also the shuttle) are very strong and simple - cast bronze clutches riding on polished steel rings. Oil Brand doesn't matter, as long as it's clean. The Hy-Gard mix should be fine.

I need to take my Bradco 611 loader off if the L5450. Physically it is simple enough and appears to be similar to the various other Kubotas I research on the different threads. I also tried it and can make the physical disconnect, no problem. My question is about the hydraulic hoses. The Bradco uses two lines off of the tractor hydraulics. Do I need to bypass something after I pull the hoses off? There is a LA1150Aloader on the machine which I would think provides enough return via the spool and block prv. Or do I need to route supply back somehow? I was able to locate manuals on everything except the backhoe disconnect. Thank you.

I have a Bradco 408 hoe on my L3400 and it just gets unhooked no rerouting of anything except hooking up the hose for the 3pt. Would not hurt to not hook it up. the 3pt and hoe share the same supply on my L3400 not sure if that is standard setup or just what my dealer did?

My L5450/Bradco 11HD is set up so EITHER the 3-point hitch OR the backhoe is powered - not both. With the FEL mounted, its power-beyond hose (green tape) plugs onto one of two male connectors near the fuel filter. One of these powers the 3-point hitch. The other runs to the rear outlet for when the backhoe is mounted. When the backhoe is off the PB hose needs to move back to the 3-point hitch connector so flow isn't blocked. Take care, Dick B
