John Deere 110 vs Kubota M59

Alright, just got off the phone with the dealer. Said everything was in good working condition and ready to go, only problem is he wouldn't take a trade in on mine because of the distance. That is another PITA to have to sell it, much easier to trade it in. Didn't want to have to deal with shipping there and back. We'll have to see where this goes because any of the others are even further and if they won't trade in anyway then I'll be in the same situation. Ever heard of this?

Yep... the expense of shipping your trade-in only decreases his margin! Or it makes your purchase of his tractor more expensive - if you're on the hook for shipping your current tractor.

I've wrangled with dealer's and private seller's over shipping - long distances - many thousands of dollars!

In my case, I've got the time and I like rolling through areas that I've never seen before (and won't likely ever go again) so, as is often the case - I can pay my travel expenses AND pay off the cost of a new trailer with a 8-10,000 mile round trip!

There are a number of shipping outlets that will work with you... just gotta work the internet, email and phone.

I'm not quite the distances you are but that could definitely pay for a new trailer! Problem is when I could really do it. Best time soon would be over the holidays but I doubt they would be open. Then I'm back to working and don't have the schedule to just take 3 days off to ride out there and back. Would like to be able to look at it before purchasing though.

Unless you buy local I dpn't see this going away. If it were me I would get a trailer suitable for the 110 first. I would then find the new machine and if working a trade then trailer it to the dealer. I would either bring my tractor or the newly purchased tlb back home with me.

One of the few times it helps to be self employed I guess.

I definitely could get the time off I shouldn't say that. It is more that we are just slammed. We have too much work which is the best complaint you can have. Our phones are off the hook and wouldn't send the right message to leave at this time. But used to my own company and sold it to who I work for now and am practically running the company without the ownership role.

If I am going to make this long of a trip a trailer is sounding more realistic. Has anyone every used one of the commercial tag trailers you see behind dump trucks? Do seem really heavy duty but can pick a heavy duty one up on Craigslist for really cheap.

Stumps.

Depends on the species, size, ledge, soil, and where you can put the machine. I once transplanted a 55' 8inch caliper sugar maple. I dug and nine foot diameter circle around it, stuck my 4n1 under it and winched the trunk to the rops. It was so heavy that I had to have my buddy help the hydraulics get it off the ground. Then I drove it 17oo feet up to my house and planted it. Hole was ready when I got there.

i failed on a 15 in diameter fresh maple stump cause I was perched on the edge of a cliff.. A 14inch ash came out in about 20 minutes. It really helps to let the stump rot a few years. Maybe I'll check out the L49, and you could have my 110. Although I just bought a massey gc 2400 lawnmower today, so I'm not sure about shelling out another 50k.

Wow. That's a big tree! I do want to leave a lot of trees and a lot that I need to take up are dead but it's either something like this or a full size and I don't think that it would fit through my woods.

As for your tractor I sure would love it but I definitely couldn't pay top dollar. I'm trying to get some things sold myself and depending what happens there we might be able to make something happen. But you do have EVERYTHING if I'm not mistaken from your earlier post. That would be what I'd ideally want though - cant find one though!!

Edit: I should add and ask if you had an ideal price in mind. PM if you'd like.

Do not get your hopes up. I really have no intention of selling. Just to tantilize a little more, I also have an 84 inch snow blower, Boss V plow, 8' single wheel rake and Berlon sander. And a set of v chains all around.

Wow do you have a nice set up. And I was t getting my hopes up anyway, figured even if you did want to sell it would be out of my budget with everything you have.

Cheap isn't always better, or cheaper in the long term. One of the problems or lessons I learned is not to have a trailer that weighs as much as the load I intend to carry. The used trailer may have been overloaded too. I recommend getting a good new trailer of the right size with an extra ton of capacity incase you need to move implements too. Lots of companies make these trailers I used Big Tex as an example and have been satisfied so far. My PJ dump 14k is also a good brand.

Definitely don't need a dump trailer but I can see how having a trailer to heavy would be bad as well. Too much to think about...
