Price Check Overpriced Tractor?

   / Overpriced Tractor? #41
Get things back in check here. Too much going back and forth. The price from your original dealer at @ 32,700 w/ the backhoe is a fair and accurate price. I would sell the combination for the same price but may vary on sale tax %. So he is right on. And he is not getting rich on you, it is fair on both sides.

As far as the Kubota L4400, you are not comparing apples to apples. That is not a comparable tractor to the DK series. The Grand L series is more comparable and the DK will still out spec. it. The L series is comparable to the DS series w/ the exception of hydro.. You don't have the features and heaviness or lift cap. that you would on the DK. So in your comparisons, please be fair by going apples to apples as much as you can. Yes the L4400 will be less, but a Grand L 4240 or 3940 most likely will not. Could be $2,500 and higher difference.

Everybody on here has an opinion mostly based on what they own not neccesarilly on real facts, you know the old saying about opinions!, but if you talk to dealers and people knowlegeble, you'll get better info. and can make an informed decision. Most dealers aren't out to get you, they are just trying to help you get what is best for you. Just separate the chaff from the fodder.

And which forum is this?

Kubota fans compare the L series to the DK. Kioti fans compare the DK to the Grand L. Neither comparison is exactly apples to apples but the DK is certainly closer in features to the Grand L. The only significant difference in terms of technology is the Grand L HST which is a generation ahead. The DK HST is same generation as the L. The other main reason it is tough to compare is the weight issue. The DK tractors outweigh just about anything Kubota makes including the smaller MX. Different build philosophy. Kioti has traditionally heavy tractors and Kubota basically invented the lighter style. Both have advantages depending on the task.

murphy,

What have you narrowed your options down too? Are you still planning on small farming?

As some have mentioned on here that a DK40se series is more comparable to like a 4120 series John Deere which will run you more money. That said I do think that price is still a little much. Kioti does make a good tractor (Deere is my choice - but that is a personal decision for what suits you best) and I'm sure you would be pleased with it.

If you are so cheap I would consider a used tractor, sometimes you can get a really good deal on one but depending on financing offers a new may make more sense.

For what you have mentioned in previous posts I think a DK40se may be more tractor than what you actually need.

John Deere is WAY too overpriced for me. I need a tractor not a trophy....

There's such thing, if you can't fit it where you need to take it then it would be too big. Also if you can spend less money for a tractor that will suit your needs perfectly fine and you don't have to pay thousands more for wasted HP would be too large in my opinion.

As for the DK45se vs L4400 is like comparing a Cadillac to a Chevy. The DK45se has many more luxuries. If you truly wanted to compare apples to apples it would be a DK45se vs a Kubota L4240 vs a Deere 4320 and so on. But right now you are considering a feature rich model vs a base HP model.

Have you operated either the DK or L? They really are quite different except for general size and HP.

Also. the DK40se is the best bang for the buck. You have to have some very specific need for four extra HP to spend almost a couple grand more for the otherwise identical 45. AFAIK, No DK40 owner on this forum has ever said they wished they'd gone for the 45 or 50.

You mind as well look at a 9000 series JD as well then. A 9560R may due. They are only 560HP may be a little on the light side though:laughing:

My point is that there is a point where you don't need any more tractor. If you want more I understand that, but if you want to save a couple bucks and from the way you sound I would think so then you may not need a DK45se.
