Most loaders that use the lock out bar, have a bar of a different color, I asked a dealer one time, he stated it was a safey feature to be of a different color, so you can observe that is is either engaged or not at a glance. I do not know if that is true, but it would make sense if it is.

Yes, I'm going to say it's a requirement with a non-removable loader, if you can take the loader off and service that would be the best, but since the M59's loader can't come off, along with full sized TLB's and such, that can't have the loader come off are required to have one of those for safety. They have them on all of them without removable loaders.

The safety bars are generally always red so you can see it quickly, we use them every time we inspect a machine

Yes that is the L35 in the shop, I keep all the tractors inside the shop keeps them looking better and secure. It is now sitting outside at the dealer I have cosigned it with till it sells

Martian tractorman 'I have priced out the Larin cabs but 12k is a steep price I have some ideas for a cab, friend of mine is head of maint. at a golf course and they have a new unbreakable glass that can be bent to match the curve of the rops then I am going to mount it on the rops

They are definitely pricey. That glass sounds really good though. Never heard of anything such. Be sure to post some pics of that project!:thumbsup:

I am no expert, I think it would be easier to use the bar than to remove a removeable loader, I wish my B2710 had one. I agree, most I have noticed are red or orange in color. The dealer I spoke with about the bars was a John Deere construction equipment dealer, before I bought a L45 I consdered a new JD 310 series, all the 310s I looked at had the safety bars painted black (loader arms were yellow, so it stood out). Typical of JD to be different. BTW, if anyone is considering a JD 310 TLB, it is one outstanding machine but take a pickup load of cash or a good banker, it will make the M59 seem inexpensive.

Similarly equiped (even adding a cab to the M59 would not change the balance much), the 310 TC is almost twice the price. Granted the 310 is bigger in all areas, it is not twice as big or better. I am just a newbie with big equipment, all my expeience is based on renting a JD310 SJ, NH B90, L45 in the past three months before I purchased a L45. I did not get to rent a M59, just run around the lot on a used one and play a little.

Sorry, I do not want highjack the thread with my story, this about a new M59 OP purchased. I will shutup and go away now.

It definitely does seem easier but to take the loader off is even safer and I think they don't want to spend the extra $100 on the bar if it is really even safer for you to take the loader off. Just a guess but I sure do wish they did that because I was too cheap and didn't get the quick detach loader for my 3120 so it takes nearly 45 min vs 2 minutes for me to take my loader off so I either risk it with it up or leave it down and makes it a PITA.


If I'm not mistaken, a new M59 base price is in the low $50k's, a new 310SJ is in the $100k range. A 310SJ loaded up could be around $120k. It is truly an industrial loader. As much of a machine an M59 would be to us a 310 makes it look like it belongs in a sandbox. The M59 is 60 HP, 310SJ is 93. M59 digs 12 feet, 310SJ digs 18' 5". A 310 is a lot more machine, lot heavier built. You would have a hard time finding a 4000 hour 8 year old 310 for the same price as a new M59. They are just bigger and stronger machines in two totally different machine classes. That said not only could I never in a lifetime justify a new one but I couldn't justify the size of one either where I need to go. Admittingly I would feel like a BA driving one though, they put everything all of us have to shame:laughing:
