2305 engine needs to be rebuilt

I have a new procedure now for "Breaking In" my 2320. The manual states that to start you have to put the throttle between 1/2 and 3/4. If I start with 1/2 throttle it is noisy and smokey. I used to start on idle, less noisy and smokey. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

What year is your 2320 and does it specified only for the ''breaking in'' period?

It was built in September 2011. The manual says nothing about a break in period whatsoever. That apparently is the normal starting procedure. Confusing isnt it?

I have always started engines at idle.
No sense roaring the engine when it first starts before it has oil pressure built up IMO.

My instinct also, but yet the manual tells me otherwise!:confused2:

I start ours at idle and have since 2008.

Henri88,

This repair process may take some time, I would check on a loaner tractor for your snow work before it gets bad. I wouldn't expect this to take less than three weeks to complete.

Good luck with the repairs and hope it all works out for you.

Henri,
Looks like it was three weeks + 1 day, looks like my estimate was on target.:) Glad you have your tractor back.

As does the manuals I've had for my (all Deere) 670, 790 and 4400.
The actual verbiage is to push the hand throttle wide open.
However, I never did this...start with the throttle at low idle and as soon as the oil light goes out, increase to about 1500 RPM.

Hi
That is strange they would tell us to do that, what are they thinking? I will continue doing the same as usual with the exception of keeping it at idle.
Thanks

It was at the dealer for a little over one month, but you were right on the button when you said 3 weeks from the moment you post it. :drink:
