Grading Kubota L 5740 for grading tractor

What are you doing with it? Fuel use is completely dependant on use. My L5030HSTC uses 10 l per hour (about 2.75 gph) on the snowblower or other high load. It drops way back proportional to load.

My 100 hp tractor uses 5 gallons per hour on the discbine working hard. About proportional.

I really like my L5740 even though I am having some issues with loader capabilities.

unless you need the PTO hp a lower hp grandL might get better fuel usuage. I am getting about 3.5 gph and not running at PTO speeds. Coming from a older gas tractor I thought the diesel would be better on fuel NOT!!

As stated nothing but puttering around digging post holes, some mud lot cleaning , spread 18 ton 411 limestone, 2 hrs with bush hog clipping weeds. All told I have 27 hr on it now filled it up three times with 10 plus gals each time currently full Another TBNer with the same make/model MharryE actually has found our engine is rated at 3.7gpm in industrial trim and he confirms my estimate of fuel usuage, I think 4shorts might agree too

A 5740 is a nice tractor. I run Deere because their dealer network/support is far superior to any other in my area. I've had many Deere through the year and love them all. If I had better dealer networks for other companies I'd be over there to but Deere is head over heals in front of them all. No doubt Kioti/Bobcat/Kubota all make excellent tractors and for grading they will all be nearly equivalent. I'd buy from the dealer that treats you best.

Just the other day I was telling a buddy of mine that my new 5740 is a little easier on fuel than the 4240 I had. Might be because it's not working as hard  I've been watching my fuel as well and just pushing snow without using the blower I'm running 1.25 GPH with the tractor in high range all the time. I think it's good. That being said the tractor is not close to working hard.

I just reworked the numbers and I'm burning 2.0 GPH with the 5740. :ashamed:

The 3.7 gpm is what Kubota publishes it running at peak power. That's what I get plowing where I hold it at 3700 rpm by varying the pedal (wish they had a cruise control for this - maybe next gen). I use a lot less mowing or moving snow, other jobs like that.

I'm not an expert on Kubota's but they don't have cruise control? Guess it's not a huge feature I think I've used it all of once or twice on my JD - I don't do a lot of mowing and more loader work - but it seems like they'd offer it:confused:

3700 RPM
The RPM gauge on my 5740 only goes up to 3400 RPM. I don't even know if mine would go that high! I adverage 2400 RPM and its wound up pretty good then  man if mine ever hit 3700 RPM it would be leaving the earths atmosphere.

Oh and there is cruise on the Grand L series tractors.

Yes they have cruise control on all GL models and some Lxx00 standard or as an option. I use mine a lot.

That's what I would have thought. I must have been reading the post wrong.
