I went to return something at Best Buy today with out a receipt. They wouldn't take it back for store credit.

Their new policy is no receipt, you get nothing.

This is the last time I will shop there.

Am I right here? Do you agree this is?

Seems to me they could have just scanned it and figured out that you didn't shop lift it. If you used a credit card to buy it, you can always give them a call and have it removed from your bill, if not I would give the manager a call.

Round here they wont take anything back without the receipt, some wont even give you your money back they give you a 'credit' which I dont agree with.

Things aint what they used to be, too many people trying a fast one with returns.

I might be in the minority here but I agree with them. Unfortunately there's too much shoplifting going on, they have to protect themselves somehow, sorry :-( .
I make it a habit to keep all my receipts regardless of what they are. Sure a lot of times it's unintentional (balled up wads of paper I have to get out of my wallet :) ) but I still have 'em.....Mike

I have scanned everything for the last four years, no files, folders, or cabinets full of receipts. Just reprint the receipt if I need to return something.

I staple the receipt to a piece of A4 paper, write on what it was for and the date, hole punch it and file it in my receipts for expensive items file:)

Yep, I wouldn't have taken anything back without the receipt and wouldn'd expect them to do anything if I didn't have the receipt. And yes, I keep all receipts. If it's an item that includes a manual, I put the receipt with the manual in the file cabinet. If not, the receipt goes into a "pending" envelope in the file cabinet. When I get the credit card bill, I match up the receipts to the bill, fasten both bill and receipts together and file them.

1. Did you get it as a gift?

2. Did you pay for it with credit card?

I have had issues with alot of places, but if it was purchased with credit card, they can re-run card to verify if you purchased it. This has worked at alot of places.

If its a gift..contact the person you got it from

There are more and more stores that wont accept un-receipted returns.

Then again.. i never will shop at best (worst) buy again anyways for a myriad of other reasons.

Slightly off topic, but I have also started to photocopy all receipts that I need to keep for a long time, I.e for warranty etc, as I have noticed that the ink on a lot of my newer receipts has been fading away to nothing in a short period of time. I think it must have something to do with making them biodegradable ...Craig
