How to fix crushed Gas can

What -- you won't fill your own can? -- I haven't seen a gas jockey in years!:eek::eek:
I bought some cans at an auction that looked just like the OP's picture -- and they were vented - a little gas in the hot sun and pop -- back to original shape

I knew when I wrote that there would be eyebrows going up. They serve us at the Coop in town so I have to use proper "vessels". When I finally get a cardkey for the keylock system I'll fill my own.

If you come to the People's Republic of Oregon you will find gas jockeys.

It is illegal for you to even touch the pump, or maybe that is just the nozzle. Anyway, it is supposed to boost employment.

Same here in NJ, and we have lower fuel prices at the pump than all the neighboring states (DE, PA, NY). You don't have to stand out in the rain or cold and you pay less(like $0.15/gal less), works for me.

HMMM,
1*Nope, the cans I purchased have no vent.
1*They haven't had vents for years.

Does anyone know an easy way to rehabilitate a crushed plastic gas can?
Trade them for one of these.

Carefully remove the lid of your trash can, quicly insert all the unvented safety cans, carefully replace lid on trash can.

Hmm...gives me an idea! One question though: will the gas jockey fill my can if it has been "tampered with"?:(

I was getting the van gassed up this morning and asked the manager if they would refuse to fill a can if it had been modified (tampered with). To my surprise, he said yes he would. So I guess I will "fix" my dysfunctional cans right quick! Thanks,OP, for helping to bring this about.

I came for the info. I stayed for the entertainment.

Well, you *could* spray a little starting fluid in them, and drop a lit match................

Actually, it would be best if you had someone else drop the lit match for you........:D

What gas jockey?
Here in the US nearly all pumps are self service.
Gas Jockys went out of style 30 - 35 years ago or so.

1*30 or 35 years behind the times Gee.
2*I asked the manager if they would refuse to fill a can if it had been modified (tampered with).

2*My policy is fill first and don't ask later.
I sure hain't going to take my can can inside the store and let them inspect it.
3*My answer to that would be fill up elsewhere .
4*My fix is find another place to buy fuel .

I have learned that gas Jockies and service station clerks aren't the sharpest tools in the drawer or the brightest flashlites on the shelf.
I had a clerk refuse my drivers license an would not accept my check .
Seems she was more of an expert on drivers license than the local police department and the drivers license unit of the state highway patrol.
Several years ago an attendant refused to let me fill some five gallon cans I had in th back of my truck so i just drove across the street and filled them and the truck.

When I was working in downtown Lansing, Michigan, we would buy all the fuel (both gas and diesel) for our work trucks at a full service station just off the freeway that was also a repair shop. Although I have been retired for going on 10 years, I still make an effort to purchase the majority of my fuel there as the prices are competive with self serve and I want to support a family owned business. Still, there are darn few full serve places left anywhere.

I dont know if it freezes down there but you could possibly fill with water and let freeze. drain when done add some Heet. gas antifreeze would remove moisture from can
