Island, I'm in the exact same boat as you regarding tire sizes. This is what I recently emailed my dealer:

--- cut ---
Been thinking more about tires for the tractor and am now leaning towards the following:

420/85 R34 R1W Radial Michelin (code 5161)
13.6R24 R1W Radial Michelin (6151)

Can you verify that these are the Michelin Agribib and also what the rim widths are?

Does Deere allow ordering custom wheel/tire combo's?

1st choice - Michelin Multibib

Rear 600/65R34 preferred rim width is DW20B, but W18L will work as well
Front 480/65R24 preferred rim width is W15L, but W14L will also work

2nd choice - Michelin Multibib

Rear 540/65R34 preferred rim width is W16L, but W18L will work as well
Front 440/65R24 preferred rim width is W14L, but W13 and W15L will work as well

3rd choice - Michelin Agribib

Rear 18.4R34 preferred rim size is DW16L, but W15L, DW15L and W16L will work as well
Front 14.9R24 preferred rim size is W13, but W12 will also work

So the question is if it is possible to order these through Deere (I know they offer the Multibib on the 6x30 tractors), along with suitable rims (and wheel centers).

From the 6330 parts catalog, I do see the following:

AL118453 W15Lx24 front rim (includes wheel center from what I can tell)
L154513 34" wheel center
AL152373 DW18Lx34 rim

And I know 6x30 centers bolt right up to 5M series tractors.

Just curious what my options are for wheel/tire combos that are not in the regular "pick list" when customizing a tractor order.
--- cut ---

In other news, I traded in my Hudson trailer for a new Better Built 24' Gooseneck, so that I can transport my new tractor. The 5ton Hudson would have been very borderline.

Here's a crummy pick from last night when I got the beast home.

pclausen,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. After examining the specs on the tires you suggested, I particularly like your number two choice:

2nd choice - Michelin Multibib

Rear 540/65R34 preferred rim width is W16L, but W18L will work as well
Front 440/65R24 preferred rim width is W14L, but W13 and W15L will work as well

The overal diameters of the tires are very similar to the Goodyear 12.4R24 / 18.6R30 that I currently have, but of course there is a substantial overall footprint gain. My dealer is looking into it to determine if he thinks there will be any frame rubbing issues. I wonder if it would potentially require adding front axle extensions, like AKfish did. I would prefer to not have to do that.

I would really like to hear why Caledon Hills dislikes the Goodyear Dyna Torque radials so much.

If I learn anything of value, I will post the info.

Thanks again,

Island Farmer

Island Farmer Could you explain why you didn't like the Goodyear/Titan Dyna Torque's that you originally had. [/QUOTE said:
Hey Island,

The reason I didn"t like the Dyna Torques in particular is because of those little "half" lugs they have. If I'm payin' the bucks for radials I want full beefy lugs like most ag radials have. Bigger lug = more life (hopefully). Plus the dealer had a low hour, less than 600 hrs.,mint 5X25 there and the Dyna Torques looked pretty hurtin'. I was not impressed.
Size wise they just looked wrong when I stood back and looked at it with the loader on. Didn't like that either.
Lastly, while playing with the loader in the dealer's sand pile they were diving like crazy, even at max pressure. I figured I'd pop one sooner than later so might as well up the load rating right then.
Here's the tractor with the original tires at the dealer and to me they look too small.

Is that Frey loader self leveling? The mechanisms look pretty interesting:thumbsup:

Tom (Caledon Hills),

Thanks for that information, it makes sense to me. Your Firestonse that came off the 6 series front and back are about 4" taller than the Goodyear radials; have you had any issues with them? You said that the rears are no problem under the fender, the closest point is a few inches from the step. What about the fronts, if they are turned all the way, do the tires rub on the frame?

Also, you said that you liked the new Multibibs, do you know anyone that is using them. One thing that I have read about the Mulitbibs is that you should not put a full load of 75% RimGuard in them. And, it might be preferable to just have wheel weights, any thoughts about this? What's your ballast, fluid or weights, or a combo?

Thanks for you advice,

Dana

I made the rears even with the rear fender extensions to keep the crap down,
then brought the fronts out even with the rears while planning to adjust the steering stops. I lucked out, even with the 14.9-24s cranked all the way it cleared the side frames by about an inch at the factory steering stop setting for 12.4-24s! No issues at all. It's been perfect.

I read my earlier post about the factory available Michelins. I messed up on the size of the rears. They are 16.9-34 and I'm pretty sure they are they're Agribibs. I saw the 13.6-24 and 16.9-34 Michelins on a 5095 a few months ago and it looked really good. I'm very partial to Michelin and Firestone ag radials and in my opinion you will not go wrong with either one.

If you and pclausen decide to go wider you will increase your turning radius from the increased ground contact and having to adjust your stops for frame clearance but you can widen your stance to offset this.
Mine is 84 inches outside front and rear and my loader bucket is 85 outside so this combo works really well.

Not a fan of liquid, I hate leaks. I realize sometimes you have to use it but it's not for me. Have 200 lb. of iron on each wheel and gonna add another 200 each. I ALWAYS have something hanging off the three point so I haven't had an issue yet.

If you guys do change your tire diameters, get your dealer to reprogram your chassis control unit with the correct circumference, address 111 I believe.
It's just a little thing but it keeps everything accurate.

Any other questions just let me know.

Regards,

Tom

Great info Tom. Really appreciate it!

Adding the rear fender extensions and being flush with them is exactly how I would like mine setup as well. Looks really good.

I was wondering about the speedo being off with the larger circumference tires. I had to reprogram my truck when I put on larger tires. Didn't realize the same was possible on these tractors. That's great news.

Here's a picture I found on tractorhouse.com of a 5085M with the 13.6-24 and 16.9-34 Michelins. Looks pretty good, but I'd like to go wider unless it is going to cost me an arm and a leg (the Michelin upgrade is already $3500 over what comes standard on the 5085M). If you look closely, you can see that these are indeed the Agribib tires. Btw, that particular 5085M does have triple mid and rear SVCs and deluxe cab. Asking price is $55k I believe. Low hour 2011 model, but I don't know if the loader frame will work with side exhaust. I almost went with it, but the 0% financing was hard to give up.

One more question Tom. What top link is that and do you recall the length of the hoses? Also, what type of quick connects are on these tractors?

Thank you Tom,

Great info. I will be talking with my dealer later this morning, and I am wishing that he will have some info for me about the Michelin Mulitibibs. He said that he would contact Deere about compatibility. I will post any information that I receive.

I do have one question, not tire related. I have decided to get the heaviest duty Woods Hyd. Boxblade and I have two choices for size: 88" or 92". I anticipate that, with the new tires, my tractor will be about the same width as Tom's 84". Which size should I choose?

Yep it's self levelling and it straightens out as you raise it so at max lift height you get considerably more vertical distance. It's also built very heavy duty.
