What did you do to your tractor today?

Made the raincap to finish the exhaust off, ready for a little paint now and see how she looks.

All made from scrap, who needs to pay 150 pounds ($225) for a new one

Had another few hours by the fire fiddling with the tractor.

Fitted the exhaust stack complete with raincap on top and heat shield at the bottom to hide my crap welding.

Fitted the seat but need to weld some steel plate on with holes in to take up the wear in the hinge pin.

Sanded down the fenders and hung them up to dry ready for their final coat of gray paint.

Cleaned off and painted the air cleaner in shiney black paint, looks lovely.

New rear tires arrived via Fed Ex today, fitting them tomorrow.

OOhh and started the engine just to watch the raincap flutter up and down

I spent yesterday since it was 60F in the afternoon adding a guard on the bucket to help prevent material from rolling out of the bucket when rolled back. I posted it on Build-it-Yourself under Snow ?????. I didn't know what to call it.

Kubota (maybe other manufacturers too) is applying shifty solution. They placed the gear shift lever in the middle, between the legs. But I'm always in confusion thinking about which hand I have to use while engaging a gear.

And then another question: how did N.America choose the left hand drive? Is that a French legacy?

My shifter has been in the middle......

What I did to my tractor today: fixed the broken drawbar hitch and bent rod. It got bent & broken trying to pull out a fully loaded 14 yard dump truck with a 3/8" chain. Actually broke the ears off the pin attachment point for the drawbar. I welded them back on, but have my doubts as to it holding much as the bracket appeared to be cast iron rather than cast steel. At least it didnt crack out when I welded it with 7018. That bent rod was a PIA to straighten. I picked the whole rear end of the tractor up with hydraulic jack centered on the V bend and didnt straighten it when cold. Had to heat it with a torch to get it straight enough to remove from the bracket then pound it with a 16# sledge hammer to finish straightening it.
