3-Point Hitch How can I limit "UP" Travel?

/ How can I limit "UP" Travel? #11
With these BX's with limited CAT 1, there seems to be a few reasons why it would bind. One is not following the instructions to cut the PTO shaft shorter to correct length. Or like my rototiller, when its up all the way, the u joints would clatter due to extreme angle making it sounds like its binding. I solved that with a quick hitch as it moves the pto shaft further away from rear of tractor lessening the angle so it doesnt clatter anymore.

If the pto shaft is of correct length, and OP doesnt want a quick hitch, the only 2 options I see is to replace the lift arms to a longer one or drill new holes so its closer to rear of tractor, but it will seriously limit the lift clearance. Being a snowblower it might be all he needs.

My tiller does the same thing. I've learned to watch how far I lift it when the tiller is running.

Here's a picture of the angle that causes problems:

Shortening the top link will stop the binding/clattering, but when the implement is lowered it's not at the correct working angle.

Adjusting the feedback rod will work as it kicks the valve back to center as it comes up.

There isn't a feedback rod, it has a quarter inching valve.

Even a quarter inching setup has a feed back rod, at least all the B-series do. It tells the valve that the arms are all the way up and stops the flow of oil (recenters the handle). It has an adjustment to tell the arms where to stop on the up travel, as well as one that can be set to limit down travel. I've never tried tinkering with the up travel limit as I have never had a need to, but it does tell some about it in the manual and more in the WSM. That's really the only way I know to go about this aside from mechanically restricting the arms or changing the geometry.

Well my BX2230 does have one so that may be something they added on the BXxx30 series because I can lift the three point and it returns to center when it gets to the top.

I guess I learned somthing new! sorry!

none of this will work because he doesn't have "position control" that moves the 3pt to match lever position. He has a "quarter inching valve" which works like the loader valve, you pull the lever back and the 3pt goes up. but when you release the lever it springs back to neutral.
about the only way I can think to limit up travel is to connect chains from the tractor frame side of the lower links to the snowblower side of the top link or some variation of this.

The chains idea gets my vote. Cheap, elegant, applies only to the attachment that needs it.

Is there any danger of damage to the tractor by doing this? Will it just go into relief and open the bypass valve? Will the lever return to neutral then? I'd just be scared that it would keep the bypass open full time causing more wear on the pump and the relief valve itself.
