Round balers

   / Round balers #31
i was told from a very relible source the the NH round balers are based on the old ac balers. maybe nh copied it when the patent ran out. AGCO balers are HESSTON baler, not AC baler, never have been AC.

My source works deep within the AG industry.

Allis Chalmers never built a round baler rather than the Roto-Baler. And there is no more similarity betwen a RotoBaler and a New Holland Roll Belt baler than there is between the AC and any other full sized variable chamber round baler you can find.

You need to post better info than hearsay from a 'deep source'. Find us a link to some proof.

I my self never heard NEW HOLLAND bought out A.C. I my self agree with RickB, the only baler A.C. ever made was a ROTO-BALER. I owned 1 for a while with my dad , REAL piece of work! It didnt take me long to say good bye, never again. I bought a VERMEER , had it several years , then sold out.Im back in the hay buisness and now run JOHN DEERE, I like both of these machines , they are very good. Ive been around hay equipement all my life , and again thats the first time ive ever heard any such mention of New Holland buying out A.C.

I don't think he said AC was bought by New Holland, just that it was designed after it.

Everyone steals ideas from other manufacturers and tweaks it to be there own, so I guess there could be some truth in it.

And AGCO is the old AC. Allis Gleaner COmpany, hence AGCO.

Sorry I stand corrected , I miss understood , after reading again it doesnt say New Holland bought out A.C. You are right.

that was the old baler that rolled the hay on the ground right

thats exactly what i was saying and then they bought out massey and did away with the allis name on equipment

REREAD THE POST AGAIN..... VERY SIMILAR in design, not an exact copy.

I could read your post 100 times and I still won't believe it. The Allis Chalmers roto-baler made bales of 100 lbs or less and had a side-pull design. A NH round baler pulls from the center and makes bales from 500-2000 lbs depending. Other than the shape of the bale and the fact that the bales are formed by belts and wrapped with twine, there simply aren't enough similarities between the two machines to make your source's claims make sense.

Find a photo of a Roto Baler and compare it to a NH belt style round baler.

Wow...! I don't believe I ever handled a 100 lb bale from one of those old AC's! 'Course they were mostly prairie hay - not alfalfa - but, I'd guess hardly a dozen outta a hundred bales was more than 50 lbs.

That would be the "or less" part.
