Roundup on vegetable garden weeds?

There is also a perspective difference in those who grow a few things for their own canning jars and freezer and between those who grow to re-sell. While I prefer not to use chemicals on our food, this isn't solely a philosophical position.

The difference in return for organic is substantial for my wallet. Yes, I also am profit motivated. Have to be until Kubota gives tractors away, the township waives my land taxes completely and the Valero station offers me free diesel. :D

Thanks for the thoughts........YES, in the past have controled weeds with tilling every few days or weeks to knock them out. This year we have had VERY few days even below freezing and RAIN RAIN RAIN so that not only is it hard to get tilling done; but stuff just continues to keep it's roots damp so hard to get a kill...........

Yes, am totally concerned with the gene pool that eats this stuff, my grand kids; but at the same time have to take into consideration about the weed crop that is taking over..............Thanks for the thoughts........

Just got off the phone with the County agent and feed store guys.........SPRAY......it is absorbed by the leaves and it decomposes once it hits the soil into intert minerals that are already in the soil or SHOULD be there..........God bless......Dennis

How does that work? Is there some sort of State legislation that allows this?

I typically disk then roundup any missed areas and I use round up around the outside of the garden. How do you all keep the weeds down between the plants other than manual hoeing, especially corn?

Roundup only effects the chlorophyll in plants and has an extremely short half life so yes you can use it to kill a garden area. I even use it to weed my garden in the summer, if you don't get it on your plants and use the proper amount it kills what it's suppose to and leaves the rest.

I put raised beds into my garden then add chips in between. I get weeds coming up but nothing I can't handle mostly just a few here and there. Not a big fan of spraying and hoping I can digest chemicals that I am really not supposed to eat. Plus I like to pull snacks out of the garden when I'm working there. Monsanto will tell you their round up is safe all their scientists say so. I do know I don't want to eat any more than I've all ready eaten and I surely don't want to feed it to my kids.

I wouldn't use that stuff any where near food products.
Yes it does stay in the ground for a LONG time. My brother sprayed to kill off some weeds and wasn't able to grow grass in that area all summer.
